Mates, I found 2006 Waroo 3m in good condition which comes with standard waroo bar and some lines all for $300 (shipping included in the price)..

Is it a good deal? or should I try to lower the price and how much?

There is Naish Bolt / Cult in 3m but freaking impossible to find.. Are there any other good 3m kites?

Are you using the 3mtr for yourself in high winds? Or to teach someone small?

I will use it myself and one other friend in light wind since we are beginners and can practice in winter... when cold..

I like that it is an actual kite, not some trainer kite that is different from the real thing. I may also use it for in some snow/ snowboard..

From my limited experience I feel that the actual tiny kite will be much more beneficial

Guys I doon't want a trainer kite, again I feel the advantage of using actual tiny kite is better. Do you think that the price of $300 is reasonable/good for 3m waroo with bar and lines or should I try to lower it?

OK mates, forget about the question... I didn't think it would be so tough to advice if 3m actual kite is good for training and the price... I'm about 80kg..

3m 2nd hand kites are usually in pretty good condition. 5 years old, Id try $250. Great size to learn on. 2 line trainer kites dont depower, so I understand where your coming from.

The only problem and the reason for my question is a 3mtr kite actually needs a decent amount of wind for it to fly efficiently. You won't be flying this kite in under 15 knots, unles all you want to do is spins and side to side sweeps etc. My suggestion would be to save your money for a kite that is the right size for your body weight and get a few lessons. Don't stuff about because after a couple of lessons you will be Kiteboarding if you get the correct kite and advice from the beginning.

^^^ +1
As mentioned the smaller (sub 5m kites) are designed to be flown in high wind speeds if you are trying to fly in 15-20 kts the kites are just not efficient and fly like dogs.
Either buy a proper trainer , ozone UNO , $300 brand new kite only and use any 4 line equal length bar, at least it will fly in a normal wind range, will depower, and it's new!
With kiting you will find you pretty much get what you pay for.
Ps ARSA sells this brand and even he doesn't think you intended use will match the performance of the item!!

I completely understand your answers.

Here is why I'm thinking about a 3m actual kite for training... and maybe if you guys can consider these, I can get some better advice... I was also asking about Naish Cult 3m but I cannot see it anywhere..

I live on US East Coast. We will have cold and snow in no time. I like this forum a lot, many people participate... that is why I read it.. I'm a young guy and quite decent windsurfer..

My idea and it is a combination of things is that I will be able to fly and get used very nicely to the actual 4 line kite in winter when I'm not planning to windsurf or kitesurf on the water. Very cold and nasty.
The beach where I can train is 1 minute away from my building. The beach where people kitesurf and windsurf is 10 minutes away.
I'm also thinking to buy big 12-15m kite in winter/spring when the deals here are much better. In the summer, I will ask a few kitesurfers I know to teach me a bit. My assumption is that if I can get used as much as possible to the 3m real kite (there is nothing else to do - winter) I can get along with a 14m one much much faster since I will already have skills and muscle memory flying 3m kite.
Another benefit is that while I'm flying that 3m kite, I will meet my kitesurfer friends who do some messing around in winter, chat and get to know things more... In windsurfing I can tell how good you are just by looking at how you carry or rig your equipment. The skill comes with years of practice and if I can mess with real kite, lines, chicken loops, harness, how to nicely self land and self start the kite, depower, use safety etc.. I can be much more comfortable with bigger kite when freaking winter is over.

I know how you feel about and how you try to rationalize things, but in the longer horizon, you will not use the 3 meter after you get in to water and try to get on the board. Therefore I would highly suggest just like the others above that just get a big enough kite which you would be using the most and start with it (ask your soon to be kite buddies about the most used kite sizes adjusted with the weights of the riders) and get the lessons in. For just practising kite flying skills get a two line cheapo kite from local cheapo cheapo store - the kite flying doesn't differ from two liner trainer to 10m2 kite.

If you really do want to get a really small kite, I can suggest you to look for 4.5m Cult 2010 which you would be using with a surfboard from 30 knots to whatever ridiculous windspeeds when you know what to do with it. Another fact is that normally there are 10-30 knot days 80-90% of the ridable days...

Omg, Guys. Thank you so very much.
I will follow your advice and will NOT be buying a 3m kite. Will try to get some cheapo cheapo trainer kite fly it a bit and chat with my kite buddies on the beach to see the largest size usable here... It's interesting that most kiters always say hello to me, maybe because all my windsurfing equipment is Naish and they know Naish and see skulls on my sails :) or maybe because I jump and sail nicely.. :)

You see from 17 knots to 40 knots I can use my small freestyle board, which is lots of fun to sail and jump and then twin fin wave board. I'm very aggressive and efficient sailor and use small sails.
But from 8/9 - 17 knots I need a kite. I bet at my 175 pounds/ 80kg it can be a choice of 12m to 15m ones... But that kite should be super good at low wind... and another requirement is that it should be a great kite for a beginner as well as for advanced kiter... and well build.

I already came up with a small list of possibles
-----
North Rebel 12/14
BWS Noise 12
Liquid Force Envy 12/15m (may not be great for advanced/intermideates??)
Epic Infinity 14

I also know what it feels when you sail efficiently from windsurfing perspective then you can use much smaller sails than your buddies, but this comes with much experience how to relax, pump, unstick the board, choose the right angle to the wind; good part comes from equipment as well.

$300 for kite only (+ ozone bar for $500)

+ the kite drops out of the sky in under 20knots. (previous experience)

=waste of money IMHO

Retailers would recommend these kites but the reality is you can get an Ozone IMP or something similar with 3 lines and you will have the same result. After 2 or 3 goes on it you will move it on anyways.

leto. I doubt you'll be packing up your kite at 17 knots to windsurf.. From 17knots is when kiting is at its best imo. as for 8 or 9 knots you certainly won't be doing anything aggressive then.

Whatever you end up doing i hope u have a ball. It is highly addictive. thats for sure.

Hi man,
go 5m.
I had a 3m foil on handles to learn with for 18months, it doesn't make a lot of pull and I kinda got bored of flying it.
Then factor in that a foil is more efficient than a pump-up and you are looking at a seriously small kite with a 3m pump up. Then add in that with the smaller sail, you still have the weight of a tube which makes the kite less efficient.
2 solutions - get a small depower foil you can hand off to friends later on in the future (will fly way better in sub-20kn winds) and you will have a heap of fun and learn a lot. You can then use it with a snowboard as well. Think 5-7m HQ Apex or similar. Looking at around $450 for a more useful kite.
OR a bigger pump up, but keep in mind you are sacrificing handling if flying in low winds.

Have 30 + years windsurfing experience (Baja_ +++) So , I have a 7 meter Rebel and would like to expand my sailing range. Will be sailing in varied locations and winds from 5-10 knots up 20-25+++ or at least trying. Nitinat Lake BC,CA or Victoria BC,Ca. I know how my windsurfing quiver is spaced but need some help with kites. So next up 9 or 10 M Rebel and for those light days Rebel ???Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you and I could hang out down under a lot. Like the beer too. Thanks Ian

Stick to the beers at 5-10kn. If you want a two kite quiver go a 10m, otherwise a 9 and 11 would give you plenty of options.
