Yeh I'm in the same school of thought as Cauncy. I have added the new megatron to the ozone bar but ultimately it wasn't totally necessary, except now it can fully flag out if I punch out in suicide (which I ride all the time).

I do like the look of the new switch bar and the best redline bar myself, got all that I like on a bar....simple to change back line length, simple to change bar length (something ozone should look at), switch has above and below bar swivel (to me below the bar is the bare minimum), a decent stopper.

If I could have all that and ozone lines I'd be stoked.

Yeh soft bar ends would be better but I've never smacked my self in the face with it hahaha

They have got a bar on trial which has the moulded ends and floats (like Liquid Force) ive just got back from Egypt Nabq and kev at kitejunkies has one on demo (they are a ozone school and rental centre)

Not sure if they are going to release it though.

ozone has the best and simplist power/depower cleat on the market and best lines too. Not a fan of the new safety CL but the swivel works a treat!

Why not, I have used it for a while now, not a problem, easy to reset?

Oh yeh an adjustable throw is also something I like, I ride with a relatively short throw, although the ozone throw is about right. Sometimes on the big gusty winter days though I like to increase it. Another aspect I like with the switch bar / north bar.

Thing is I like stuff from all the bars (and dislike other parts of the bar design) but can't seem to find what I define as yeh good stuff ON ONE BAR!!!!

When you try and hook back in after a trick the swivel works TOO well and rotates the chicken loop constantly. SOmetimes it may take 2 or 3 attempts just to hook back in to the spreader bar

Actually you are right, I have found this also hooking back in. Just figured that goes with the territory. I find the north does the same sometimes as well.

Over-rated. Especially on the fly like the new Cab bars - also, the added weight adds momentum when unpinning the bar.
Over-rated. Especially if you have a stopper
Unnecessary. But much cleaner to have it tucked under the floats...
Meh... Something else to fiddle with

What are you looking for in a bar? There are compromises for any design you go for... I'd settle with fewer parts and better quality bits.

I like the 2012 cabrinha bar because the middle lines spin themselves out when you roll or loop the kite.The swivle does not jam when sand gets in it.Nice soft bar ends dont damage your surfboard..On 2014 cabrinha bar you have to spin the middle lines out at the swivel at the chicken loop.A backwards step ,but they probably did this to lessen the angle that the middle lines go to the kite.
Airush have got a 4 size bar which is a good idea , but the swivel is hard to hold onto when trying to twist lines out while riding.
Ozone 2014 bar has made an improvment to get to a safe standard.The swivel actually swivels and you can twist your lines out while riding with out taking your safety off the safety release is less prone to getting jamed.
I thought the 2013 bar was a death trap .That safety release jamed unless it was meticulasly washed and maintained.
I am keen to try the sling shot bar next , but for now cabrinha bar is my favourite.I fly ozone kites too!

Those are the kind of compromises I'm talking about - you can have a good swivel with double front safety BUT if you want single front line safety, you have to ditch the swivel and manually unspin the lines.

No stopper and the throw is too long you gotta climb up tgat damn depower line to retrieve your bar after spinning it multiple times. Is there a stopper that actually works in a PVC covered depower line? The ozone one won't it's useless.

The wainman and liquid force swivels work fine. nothing is going to work with multiple twists without a little help...


True true, but I'd rather provide this help from somewhere where you have control of this, under the bar.

Lots of 'better' bars coming from many brands in 14 & 15 models..
The absolute best advance in bars is the general (if informal) agreement across almost all brands of the push away QR at the head of the CL.
A very effective place & action for QR and an incredibly effective safety issue well addressed by this trend.

IMO essentials for a 'better' bar are -
- ATB cleat trim - but it must be a good system - some still dont lock in easily enough & some still slip unless pressed in by hand.
- a really effective sliding stopper (I call it cruise control ) Some dont like or use it but I reckon its a must - love em.
- rear line adjustment knots under the floats - brilliant idea & so many still not providing this simple benefit??
- front line untwist at the head of the CL. Again simple & cheap and clearly the best untwist option.
- safety through the CL to a free single flagging line.

All the above are covered by many brands this year and bars are becoming much cleaner & simple. Good move.
Another one worth checking out in the 2015 range will be the new BEST bar. Very nice & very clean.
Actually theres a lot to look at in the 2015 BEST KITEBOARDING range.
We had put them on the back burner for a while there but the new ownership team is finally pulling their act together. 2015 kites, accessories & the whole back-up service deal all looking the goods. Im impressed. Reckon you will be too.

here is the least amount of parts i think you could get away with. not for everyone though.
