Hey Guys,

Im new to kiting and was wondering your thoughts on the BWS Noise (8m in particular)?

I have been surfing for years and i have been kiting around 8 months.

I am looking for something about 90% for the surf and unhooking.

What do you think?

I need to be careful here as it seems any comments regarding BWS kites are met with an angry hoard of over zealous replies..

Do yourself a favour call Jason at Westoz and ask him. He stocks this kite and has been teaching with them. He also has a number of trade ins he is selling so could do you a great price.

That's all I can say.

Except, yep it will work just fine for what you described.

I've got a noise 10, no complaints it's my light wind kite (12knts and a SB)
Turns quicker than any 12 I've tried.
Touch wood haven't been really smashed in the surf yet but it seems surf tough.
Comments will flow about which is the best surf kite blah blah.
But if you want a no fuss 1x kite quiver for the west and you weigh 75kgs on a surfboard.. Do it!!

yeah bud the 8m is a great kite and the Noises are all built tough for the surf - you wont be disapointed and if your only getting one kite then thats the size id go for!

Thanks for your input.

I think the 8m will be the go for me at 65kg for my all round kite?

At 65kgs and surfboard you should consider the Noise 6 (very good low end kite).
When the sand starts to move on the beach (17knts?) I can use an 8m (Not a Noise) with a surfboard and I'm 75kgs. I wish I'd got the 8 noise and not the 10 noise.
Standard WA summer afternoon the sand will be moving.

I'm 6ft2 85kg and the 8m is my go-to kite for most conditions from 17kts to 25kts on a surfboard.
At 65kg you'd be overpowered on the 8m most of the time. The 6m is a sweet kite and would be much more suited to you.

The sand starts moving at 17kn? you blokes must have fairys dust on your beaches over in WA.
Maybe its due to the No daylight savings and the sun not drying out the sand enough

Some of our beaches dont have sand, its more like talcum powder. Gets into everything. Every time I blast the air-con in the car I get a reminder of kitestock 2009.

hey jburn213,
if you can afford a new 6 or 8 or both say with the one bar then go for it. probably demo to see how the sizing goes. try kss in scarborough for a demo
the new model has lots of little improvements over the original models and they now have the above the bar de-power cleat.
they are a simple to use kite

Had mine out yesterday for a downwinder. Was heaps northerly and for the first time i experienced the "park and ride'' that everyone talks about. soo sick!!!

Two of my mates that are learning to kite were out also on theirs and seemed to be able handle them alright. They seem to relaunch alright with the amount the groms were crashing them.

For what u want the BWS noise is fine. This kiting world(and many on this forum) is full of very teched up day glo value added naf naf gimmickry. The Noise avoids all this **** and let's you focus on the waves. It pulls hard, sits in the sky, can take a beating and is my one kite quiver. If you surf first and kite second then it's the obvious choice. No bells, no whistles, just a basic matt black, value-for-money, kite that ain't precious. I'm up in Broome n run my 10m in everything from light SWers(12-14kts) to monsoonal thunderstorms (20-35kts). . .all on the same kite, just change my boards around. Also, it's done 2 wet seasons and the heat has not delaminated any part like on my mates more colourful n expensive kites. Get one and then forget about it. It's the water where ur fun time is at. . .. . The kite is just the means.

Funny I have a other take on this comment. And I'm sure so do others, but hey keep it simple right.
