Hi guys,

I currently have the 6'1 2011 Tyrant which I really love. BUT it had some manufacturing errors and now I received the 2012 model.

The new one is thicker 2.5" instead of the older of 2.25" and it's also a slightly heavier and a tiny bit narrower.

Now I still have the old one, and before using the new one, I would highly appreciate your feedback on it, because on paper the old seems better.

I really like it's pop, early planing ability and I am only riding it strapless.

Any feedback appreciated!

Hi omg I've had a few runs on the new Tyrant and loved it , it feels really nice under foot and goes upwind really well ,as for powered up kiting it gave me confidence to jam the back foot in of the top of incoming waves and found it real easy to ride which translates to more fun, as for weight the one I ride is the strapless model and is very light and the thickness seems to be through the middle of the board and the rails are quite low which gives it that performance characteristic , hope I've been some help...

Hi taxi,

and thanks very much for your feedback.

Is the strapless version strong, have you had any heeld dents on it? I wish I had gotten the strapless version but it is the normal one...

Thanks!

I don't understand. You're in the best position of anyone to compare the two. Or are you thinking of making do with the old one & selling the new one on as it's still new?

Agreed this is a weird post. You have ridden the old one, why would you ask others? Take the new one out and compare.

Well, I might have a chance to change the current 2012 still new to the strapless version BUT it is still uncertain.

Therefore, I would like to know the feedback on the new one due to this possible opportunity to switch to strapless version...

Hi mate yes I am starting to get a little heal dent off the front foot but thats the price you pay to have a light and responsive board ,I've been having fun with this board in small and over head surf and I think that they got it wright volume wise, the rails low enough so you can be whipped around with the kite and enough volume to unhook and just surf if you like, just my thoughts on this board, ease of use= lots of fun...

Okay now I get ya! Do i doesn't come with the option of straps or no straps with the same board, that's weird. Or isn't it? I'd like to have both options, straps for really pumping surf in situation in less than ideal situations - tricky kite spots.

There are two different types of the same board, one's much lighter and with no strap fittings...

Well thats just weird. Why wouldn't you design a board that has both? Seems weird to me anyhow. Most crew I know like the option of both using the same both.
