as youll know the refinement of riding the edges decreases as the sizes decrease, I don't think a 5 would work in the correct winds, for me I only get my 7 out when its close to 30 and beyond, I was thinking an 8 would be a great size

Those small holes from the rear leader only occurred in a small number of kites. Some kites made it through production with webbing loops that were too short, but that issue has been sorted. It is an easy fix, and the materials in the repair pack can fix it permanently using the tear aid. If any user has an issue with their Edge take it to the selling dealer for a repair.
A thinner inner bladder material is used on the 17 and 19 Edge, as well as the Zephyr, all the other sizes have the same bladder material as the rest of the Ozone range. No kite manufactured in the last several months has this issue.
Some of the Edges we've sold in Sydney have seen very high usage, many almost always self launched and landed, and thats what I'm basing my opinion that the Edges construction very adequate.

adequate for what style of riding is pretty important, if your on a race board or similar the kite isn't put through the same stresses as how I ride the kite, Midwest wa compared to Sydney is completely different wind strength an regularity, itd take a lot to get me off this kite but for my and plummets style of riding itd give me a lot more confidence knowing itd take a fair bit of abuse, ive recently read an interview with rob whitall who honestly tells you how and why ozone kites are lightly built

Rob is obsessed with efficiency, and will not put anything into his kites that does not need to be there. There will never be clunky heavy foam bumpers on any Ozone kite, or massive areas of heavy weight dacron to make kites "wave proof" for example. There is a big difference between light with intelligent design and light/poorly built skimped. I'm sworn to secrecy but there are many new/improved things coming in 2014/15 from Ozone. Also if you are looking for a 5 strut kite with ommphh, the 2015 C4 on the freeride setting/standard bar is awesome.

2014 c4 has only just been released , are you releasing 2015 c4 early , or quoting wrong year. Edge/ race kites , Zephyr good alrounder , Reo wave , C4 wakestyle . My opinion Catalyst good all rounder but catering for too large a group off people , I think scale back cat to beginner intermediate. From opinions I get the feeling a more hard core free ride/ boosting kite of slightly heavier build is possibly what some off us pro ozone customers would like. Interested to hear all thoughts. Thanks Rob

I hope I don't get raped again but....my brother has had a year now on a 2011 C4 8m, and he swears black and blue it is the best kite he has ever flown!!. Just comes in with a huge grin every session and we can't stop him jabbering on about it. He's a typical powered freeride dude in the waves and on the flat...50/50. Just saying..... (been on it to a number of times, damn they were onto something with this kite!!)

me. I've used 2010,2011,2012,2013 c4's in the waves in 9 and 10m sizes.

2011 was the best year as far as I'm concerned for wave riding. It is sweet for powered wave riding. Doesn't drift as well as the dedicated wave kites but can be worked to good effect. Boosting and waving is sweeeet.

2012 almost as good as 2011 but higher bar pressure.

2013. Henious in the waves for hooked riding. horrible. Ghastly. don't do it.

2014.... don't know.

That's my personal opinion based on my riding style which is powered hooked in mutant riding in waves.

So Plummet why was 2013 so bad for hooked in wave riding compared to 2012 and 2011 where you loved it what changed and has that change been kept in the 2014 model?

They "c' ed it up, improved the ability to create line slack, with the accompanying bar pressure. It's pretty obvious really.

Brisbud the last 5 posts I've read of yours are antagonistic. What gives? Marketing what? Plummett has been considering upgrading his 13m edge for along time now and is sincerely asking for feedback on it. Or if referenced to the C4 don't you think someone has owned and ridden all those C4 generations has some credibility to give input?

I haven't flown the 2014 so don't know.

They previous models were more freeride orientated. Th kite reacted to steering input fast turns and flew really dynamically, hunted the edge of the window and went upwind ok. Bar pressure was lightish.

2013 was totally wake style dedicated. It was optimised for unhooked. The kite sat further back in the window, didn't go upwind well, had high bar pressure and hooked in the steering was impossibly slow due to slack rear lines. I knew within 2 mins of riding the 2013 that would sell it instantly. I then spend 2 months tweaking bridles and making every adjustment I could think of to make it fly more like my trustee 2011. I got it flying ok but the bar pressure was way to high for my one handed flying style so in the end that was the deal breaker. I managed to swap it for a 2012 and that put a grin back on my face.

Marketing spill?

What perhaps am I marketing?

I just tell it how I see it good or bad regardless of the manufacturer.

... re 13m Edge:

over the weekend I watched my mate ride his 13m Edge in 25 knots with gusts to 33 knots and it behaved well, needless to say height and hang was also no issue so if it can handle this, the kites pretty good.

Funniest thing watching Tone whose a 100 kg gorilla take 15 minutes to walk backwards 50m to waters edge.

I didn't see his kite fold bend or get out of shape once so yeah no issues, good kite.

cheers,

Robbie

33 knots? impressive. I've withstood a 30 knots squall on the 7 strut 13 (82kg). Gusts were fierce and the kite was jellyfishing abit. trimmed it. chucked it low held and insane edge and churned upwind..... then every now and then send it.... some rapid assending that day.

... teehee, every time I got close to him he'd try and yell out over the wind, "I think I'm a little over powered!!!!!!".
