Just found out my SS leash isn't really designed for riding suicide. Does any1 know of a leash that can handle it??

JN have brought out their own handlepass leash, called the Powercord. Comes with a swivel hook attachment.

some heavy duty rope.. without a QR i got QR on my harness so that eliminates the need for QR on the leash as i grab it sometimes when trying passes

I discovered the same thing with the slingshot leash... changed over to a Mystic leash a few months back and have had no problems, still has a safety on it but handles far more load

Does anyone else find that the stainless shackle connected to your harness mysteriously unclips itself.

I've had it happen to my Naish leash and now it happens to my SS leash. Prob noticed it unclipped about 6 times in a year now. Thankfully I didnt flag the kite while it was undone.

And NO, I didnt forget to clip it on in the first place.

Quick question, while we are talking about safety leashes.

Does anyone know Greg Evans in Perth?
I think he is a kiter guy who works in a hospital.

Yup, my clip's come off on its own before. Why? It's simple, tense the leash and rotate the clip. If you get the angle right (depending on shape), the clip hits the other side of the loop which then opens it and off it comes. Worse, it sometimes just sits there half open, waiting to spring off at the worst moment!

Would really love to hear more about people's leash preferences!

I'm waiting for a different hook / bar / leash set up - one which has more of a rail around the body. You read it here first!

I upgraded to the NEW leash.

Great leash but I were expecting it to be longer. I've brought this up in other posts and got hammered for it.

Anyway here we go again, the NEW leash is perfect in my opinion but I reckon the guys should bring out an optional 'long' leash.

Standard is 95cm long (unstretched)

I want one 120-130cm long (unstretched)

couple of q's, haven't heard of 'suicide' before..

i assume a suicide leash is one where the kites still a bit powered under only the leash?

Is the slingshot leash not appropriate as the safety operates and the leash busts open?

Thanks guys!

Suicide means to connect your leash to your chickenloop or onto your depower line above your QR but below your bar.

It just means that when you drop the bar the kite will depower but wont flag and hence the kite will still be powered up depending what kite you fly. A C kite will still have plenty of power but a bow will dump the lot.

Depending on what kite you have, when hooking up to suicide try to connect your leash to both your flagging line and the chickenloop. This way if your QR goes off accidentally, then you are still connected to your kite. However you can only do this to a few different bar setups on the market.
If you connect above your QR then this problem is solved also.

The SS leash can be used as a suicide leash but a few have snapped in the past and you need to keep clear of the QR on the leash when you drop the bar. I've had the leash QR go off from trying to grap the leash but accidentally grabbing the red QR tube. If the QR was released with an away-from-the-body motion then this wouldnt be a problem and the SS leash would be fine for riding suicide.

no it wouldn't be fine at all, it releases under load and is only good for connecting to the 5th line, not for riding suicide.

Cheers for that Stamp, I didnt realise they could do that too. I thought people were snapping the black cord.

Maybe a bit of R&D for Slingshot next year hopefully.

Nah I snapped the little plastic sleeve around the QR. Ended up getting a mystic 1. Works fine for now.
