Hey all hows things?

I had a ride today on the 2011 slingshot RPM and fell head over heels in love with it! Ive just got to get one.

Im having a spot of bother picking sizes tho. As the range is missing a 7 I can't go for my usual 7 and 9 combo. Im thinking that I might just pick up an 8 for now. Are there any other 70kg riders out there on a 8 and what sort of wind range are you guys getting? Any suggestions on sizes for me would be great!

Im riding in Perth at the moment and would say I'm at intermediate/Advanced stage. (kite looping etc)

Thanks

Paul

I'm about the same weight and ride RPM 2011 as well. I've got a 10+6 combo which is great for Perth conditions....

If I had to choose only one I'd go for the 8. I had a shot on the 9 as well but the bar setting is different which make it a whole different kite (IMO).

If your plan is to have a combo, I'd go first for a 9 and then a 6 (I should have taken the 9 instead of the 10....). To be honest there is a little gap between the 10 and the 6 which is a bit annoying. When I'm in this gap (20 to 25kn) I rig my 10 with the 6's bar (20m lines and 17' bar). It works well!

i ride a quiver of generation 1 RPM's, have done since k'stock and love em'!
im 70kg's and ride a 8 & 6, perfect waveriding/freestyle crossover which is my style.
i'd say i was advanced level and can get the 8 going in 18knots.
when i do upgrade i'll be heading towards a 9 and just to help on those lighter days.
so 6 & 9 will be perfect

@ jobic- whats different on the 9m bar settings?

@ austin, to be checked as it was a few month ago but I think it was only the lines length. I might be wrong but I think the 8 comes with a 20m setting while the 9 comes with 23.... Makes quite of a difference. Found the 9 more powerful and more stable than the 8, actually quite close to the 10....

You tend to get a better wind range with 23m lines and also improves upwind performance,

Hey windswept I have to agree with jobic
If u are going a 1 kite quiver then I would go the 9.
We have had innumerable RPM riders come & demo the new 9M addition to the range and just about 100% come back frothing in comparing to their 8's &/or 10's.
It was a very clever move by Slingy and I reckon the 9M got a big share of the R&D.
(kite cos always seem to produce a standout kite somewhere in the mid range with apparently less effort put into the up & down sizes)
If yo are going 2 kite quiver I would be split bw the 6/9 & 6/10. Final choice would really depend on your preference for lightwind kiting. If ur not a fiend at for getting every possible day out there then the 6/9 would give u 2 top flying kites. The 10M is slower (obviously)
We have the 9M & the 10m on demo so if u'd like to try them back to back same day give us a call.

The 9 is on 20m lines, as with the 8 and 6. The 10m comes with 23m lines.

good thread here if your interested

after seeing all the 'copy' kites, ozone reo, RRD, naish park, which have tried to build on the rpm's massive sucess. im just as happy with my 09's, did a donwinder and rode unhooked about 80% of the time in head heigh and a bit and was faultless, hurrah the rpm
