is the older 2012 with what looks like a similar system

It is an upgrade of the uds system. The T straps give easier grip.
The previous optional piece that gave more grip to the sliding stopper is fitted.
The quick release has been made slightly firmer to stop accidental activation.

I have a uds bar that I have used since they came out. Still fine and I love the ultra clean look as you kite. Plus wrapping it up is so simple.

Those bar ends look like they were designed specifically to take your eye out haha
