I've ordered a 2015 Slingshot Misfit in the 136 size and are now having second thoughts on size.
I'm 95 kilos and 6'1 tall, my other boards are at the smallest 142 in size.
Wanted a smaller board, liked the flatter rocker this board offers, now worried i'm going to cop a face full of spray, should i have got the 142 size instead. thus defeating the whole purpose of getting a smaller board?
Personally i reckon you'll love the 136, probably need a little more power than your normal sized board but i dont think you will regret it for free riding.
Hey there, at 95kg's and an intermediate rider.. I'd suggest either a 140 at least or 144+. That's what a rider of that level and keg's would really enjoy... But hey, it's your choice if you like the walk of shame. Being powered up enough to hold your ground and even make ground upwind will be awesome when you progress you'll be fine being lit up and riding a smaller board. Good lesson's or advice will help with that.Good luck
While I haven't ridden the Misfit, I'm 6'2" and 95kg and had been riding a 137 Liquid Force recoil for years. Finally smashed the foam core that on a hard landing and got a 136 Best Armada just before Xmas and am loving it. Tried a longer board but it just didn;t feel as nice out in the chop. Looking at the Misfit I'd say you should be fine with it.
I think you should just get 2, just in case one is not big enough you could use one on each foot like double ski's. Then when the wind picks up to 40kt go back to one board This is the only way you can be sure a 136 will work!!!!
Thanks for the input, it's going to come down to the wire I think, on the spot decision when I go in store this weekend. All points have been prety valid, including donuts. 2 boards is going a little far thou lol.
UPDATE: Ended up getting the 136 size Slingshot Misfit Everything in my guts was telling me i made the wrong decision, but i really wanted a small board...so what the heck.
Took it for a ride yesterday on a 9mtr Nitro4 in i guess 20knts+
All i can say is this is the fastest i have ever ridden in rough water !!! The board is very flat so It absolutely blasted though the rough water with minimal drag, and for someone my size doing this on a smaller board was unreal fun. It was a very wet ride, but didn't matter, the wetter i got the more fun i was having. Couldn't take the smile off my face.
Not sure this is due to the board exactly, but i pulled of my biggest air EVER ! whoohoo. Thanks for all the advice guys, i am really stoked with the board, can't wait to go out for another blast.
