I am looking at the above kites and wanted to know if anyone had ridden both and how they compared. I've not been able to ride the RPM but have the FX. I am looking at the 9m size wise.
The two kites are aimed at similar things obviously but feel pretty different. I find the FX bar pressure to be quite light (though it is still direct) and the RPM to feel a lot more meaty. The FX flies a lot more off of it's front lines than the RPM does. I think the RPM would sit slightly deeper in the window. For pure wakestyle riding the RPM is the choice for sure. The FX lends itself a little better to boosting high and playing in the waves. Low end and build quality is similar. Some people have eluded to the FX having inferior low end but that is not at all the case, you just need to know how to ride a kite efficiently. It rides like a C kite, you don't just dive it once and lay back into it like a Switchblade. If you can, try the RPM as it is a bit different but you really can't go wrong with either. But I would say wakestyle/freestyle - RPM and freestyle/boosting/wave - FX.
