This ones more for the retailers as not many people would have them yet.Currently ride xride 141x40.5 2009.Am 85 kilos so need the largest 140x42.both tronic and xride come in this size.i ride in mostly small choppy surf and like to jump.had my eye on the tronic as an alternative. Is one of these boards better for my riding conditions.
I tried several Cabrinha boards In Mauritius this year and the Tronic as a standout as an allrounder and was particularly good in chop and on a wave. Can't comment on the Xride. We have a demo Tronic welcome to try it anytime.
Probably be flamed for this post but you have asked for retailers responses. Im going on solid statistics here - info from demo feedback on the Shinn boards. At 85kgs it would be the MONK 134x42 or - if you really prefer the feel of a big board? why would you?? - the 136x44. Just about everyone comes in asking to demo bigger boards - as you are suggesting here. But after demoing the generally shorter wider Shinn style just about everyone goes way smaller than they were expecting. I suspect the shorter/wider is a big part of the reason so many find the Shinns such a magic ride. Read the independent reviews for yourself. Monk = high performance x-over so faster & better suited to flatter water - but still awesome even in choppy waves. Dundee = wave oriented x-over build - turns sloppy chop into velvet & the more parallel rail line = great wave riding. Given demo opportunity Im guessing at 85kgs you would prefer the 134x42 Monk or the 133x42 Dundee (wider tips). Most regular feedback is that the 136x44 Monk & the 135x44 Dundee only come into their own for those 95+kgs. Both these smaller length builds give a hell different ride to anything 140x any width you may be considering.
NB: All IMO but summarising lots of shop feedback.
Okay thanks for your feedback. Was always happy with my old xride but think I may go with the new tronic..Can anyone compare a 2014 tronic to an older xride like I was riding. If it was to have a similar ride I might pull the trigger on the tronic.
141 x 42, 2014 X-Ride, same flex but a slightly squarer outline, still carves really well, just a good all round performer. Boards are about 2 weeks out so retailers in NSW should have demo gear arriving soon, I wouldn't jump ship until you have a chance to try, the NTT foot strap system has had the best customer feedback for 2 year running. Plus there is a demo fleet with kites boards and everything in between moving up and down the east coast at the moment.
