Hey just wondering if anybody can give me the skinny on the 8m Nitro. Want to know about its grunt, depower, windrange for a person about 95kg on a 134 FLX.

Looking for something for when its 25+ and my 13 C4 is maxed

I am well powered in 20 knots @65kg on a 8m Nitro, so 25 knots+++ would be about right for you. It is a high performance kite, big boosty jumps, screams upwind and really wide wind range. The Nitro wants to sit further forward in the wind window and is more of a free-ride kite than the C4. It is still OK for the unhooked stuff but is a little more sensitive to kite trim than the C4 would be.
If you are looking for something a bit more wake-styley and don't like the raw C kite feel of the Combat then it might be an idea to wait for the soon to be released Element.

I guess im also looking for something I can teach myself to ride with a surfboard with, and also will double as a kite for the missus in about 15 - 20knots. Shes at the point of staying upwind so should be able to handle it I think.

The Element is a kite that the Switch guys have been prototyping for about 6 months now. Basically a bridled low aspect C-ish shape but designed to be pretty user-friendly with lighter bar pressure. I don't think it's too far away from being released so I don't think I've let the cat out of the bag there.
If you're looking at surfing the Method is the Switch surf kite. I've never ridden it but it seems to be designed for drifting down the line and fast turning. The Nitro turns in big wide powerful arcs which is not necessarily what you want when you are surfing.

Does anyone have one I can try in Perth?

If your after a grunty kite with heaps of lift, go the nito.
But if your more after something for wave riding, the method is what your after.

You can wave ride on the nitro, but its not a good down the line drift kite like the method.but hey,,for the price,you could buy both and still save some bucks for chrissy beers.

hows the bar pressure on the nitro? . I have heard heavy bar pressure mentioned in other threads.

the nitro bar pressure is about the same as my wainmans
if u want to ride wave the method is probably the way to go.
the nitro is a fast kite it makes it's power when flying fast through the window
(not a pull and go type kite)
it hammers upwind when trimmed correctly
the depower is limited when moving fast have to edge to pull it to the edge

I am seriously considering a 9m Method as my biggest kite for surfing. I currently use 2010- 5,7,9m Ozone C4's for the waves. Can any one tell me how the bottom end is of the 9m Method vs the 9m C4? I weigh about 75kg and the 9m C4 is ok with surfboard down to about 13knts as long as the wind is not too onshore. I was hoping the 9m Method would have a couple of knots better low end. No one anywhere near me with a demo Method.

Hi Gary, I would definitely say that the Method has an edge on the C4 power wise, however I think that you would be pushing it to do much better than 13 knots for the low end. The Method is not as pivotal as the C4 and turns about the wing tip with nice consistent power. The Method sits extremely far forward in the window which gives you great upwind performance. Compared to the C4 the Method has higher bar pressure.
