Can anyone tell me what the bar pressure and low end grunt of the 10m catalyst is like? I've heard they lack a bit of low end punch, true/false? I'm considering changing from my 9m wainman to one of these kites as the old tennis elbow is playing up.

mate I can't speak about the catalyst, but the griffin ARGO is very similar to the wainman, and can be set up for ultra low bar pressure, would be good for tennis elbow. I prefer the mid bar pressure setting myself. Maybe a kite to keep in mind for your situation.

I had a go on last years argo and found it very heavy on the bar, have they changed it much to lighten the bar for 2011?

You can set up the argo in many different ways. There are multiple combinations,each has different bar pressure. There is one (1,4,A,C) which is designed for ultra low bar pressure

Havent played with the 2011,,,but the 2010 10m cat has super light bar pressure , almost none on the light setting.
The low end is a bit slack on the 2010,,,,,the only fault, but only by a couple of knots compared to other 10's I have flowen,
The low end is not as bad as others say,,the light bar presure makes people over sheet and kill the flying speed,
turning speed is awsome,great fun to fly in the surf.You can really throw it around.
Its a true 10m,,,,I think alot of the 10's on the market should be called 11's(in actual size/turning speed)

I've flown Catalyst 2010 and 2011 heaps, and back to back with several other brands of kites too.
They do not lack bottom end in my opinion, and are actually quite a grunty kite with very good bottom end.
They have light or medium bar pressure settings on the 2011, and even better wind range for 2011.
This years kite the 2011 is one of the best kites I've ever used, it has no pulleys to break or wear though bridle lines, and has a very direct feel, excellent stability, sharp tight turning, and can be turned with one hand easily for unhooked or hooked in wave riding. The boost and hang extremely well and are super easy to relaunch.
Full 12 months warranty and the usual amazing Ozone quality, and yes I sell them, and several other brands.

The Catalyst would have a tad les bottom end power compared to the Wainman (which are heavy and grunty delta's), but more than makes up for it with wind range, light bar, nippy feel and simple ease and fun of flying.

The Catalysts certainly is one of the best kites on the market, for freeride and surf. I just wish I could get more of them

Once you get into the groove of Ozone kites, it sets a very nice precedent which is hard to go away from as everything else feels spongey and heavy.

Tried to fly my 11m crossbow ids(which I use to love),after flying a 10m cat for a couple of months.
It felt like flying a semi trailer,,,
kept crashing it into the water,,,couldnt get it to turn.

Do yourself a favour and try to demo a C4 as well as the Catalyst.
I actually bought a 2010 10m Catalyst for waveriding and to complement my 5 & 7m C4's.
Only used it one session before changing to 10m C4.
The Catalyst is a very nice kite, buy personally I much prefer the C4. Previously I was,using 2008 Ozone Light II's

At 70kgs, I tend to get going pretty early with a surfboard and Catalysts. I usually use the 10m in around 15knts, 8m for around 20knts and a 6m for 25knts.

The 10m will get me out in about 12-13knts. The strongest wind I've used it was just under 30knts.

The bar pressure is light, when I first started using the Catalysts I set them up using the heavy setting because that was what I was familiar with, I have since changed to the light setting on all kites.

The canopy is also very light which improves light wind maneuverability and relaunch.
