My Comments:
Got to ride my new Edge today. I expected a good performance from the kite given the reviews I have read. I didnt expect it to be so good.
Boost ....HUGE!!!!!!!!.
Hangtime MASSIVE!!!!!!!!!!
My first boost was fairly big but instead of just coming down as normal I glided off for one of the longest trips I have ever had under a kite.
Controlability awsome, handled some very big gusts with ease.
Landings were simple and smooth, the kite catches you everytime.
Fast and incredible upwind ability.
Several riders rode this kite today all very capable riders every one of them came up the beach grinning from ear to ear. The comments were the same smooth boost , flys you up and huge hangtime with very easy to control landing.
This is probibly the first time we all agree on a kite .... it is freaking awsome, not 1 negitive comment. It is not just a step up from the previous model this is a huge leap forward. Can't comment on the bottom end yet but we did get periods near the 40 knots today (check the weather map for Queensland) as fronts came through the kite was still controlable.
Super stoked with my choice I haven't been this excited about a kite since I flew my very first Ozone 5 years ago. I cannot wait to try the 13m.

Hey Rusty, just come back from Capetown where I got to use my 9m quite a lot.
Very pleased with the kite. Boost and hangtime is awesome. I couple of other kiters asked me how I was getting such big boosts.......
I love how the kite catches you every time. Gives you lots of confidence in those jumps where you are way up.

Upwind ability is as you say.

Low end is very good. I was using my 9m in 15/16knots and no trouble staying upwind or getting decent jumps....

Being 90kg, i thought a 9m and 13m was what I needed..... but now I am thinking a 9m and 11m might have been a better choice given the low end.
much prefer flying a smaller kite.

Unfortunately the edge is no good for wave riding - or it would be my perfect kite.

I broke it today
30 knots bit of a loft, big s#1t coming, had to release unfortunately me and my kite ended up on the northern groin rocks. It is gonna have a few scars.

You need a 9M

shame to hear that..... Can't imagine how you must have been boosting using 11m in 30 knots.

2011 11m Edge for sale. Only used twice. Mostly quite new and crispy...

I think you are right Steve ....a 9m is all I need, i got the 11 based on my history with these kites but they have so much more power than previous models. I have lost a bit of weight as well so i might have to rethink my kite selection.( I still love flying big kites in strong winds though)
Moti will have my 11m sorted and looking like new in no time so I guess there is a bargin for some one out there who would like a good deal on a very new kite with a few battle scars. Seriously.!
Bigmark ....... all I can say is "it was awesome!!! " I can also add that in a strong wind it was ok in the waves.
The problem I had was that I got lofted quite near the rock wall and to get back down to the water I needed to dive the kite, there was no room for this so I turned the kite into the wind and ended up getting lofted even more. So i had to pull the release and we both ended up on the rock wall. Then the waves did their thing and bashed us up a bit. The wind was very strong and I was way overpowered.

So let me get this right, two riders around 90kg. 0ne says 9m going in 15kts other says 11m to 35kts. These kites have to have the biggest wind range I have ever heard of.

Seems too good to be true doesnt it. And Entirely possible especially considering we have not revealed what board we were using.

however, I was on a 132 UG flx, so MY POINT is probably moot.

I did use my 9m in CapeTown, and wind was mostly 25-35 knots (15 DAYS out of 18). I was not very comfortable using it at 35knots...... and usually I dont mind being over powered. ( most people were using 7m kites or smaller )
Hence - my comments to Rusty regarding using is 11m.....

15knots does sound crazy, but this was a rough guess after kiting in well powered conditions described above. .......and ill post back here when I can verify this after a couple weeks back in Sydney. Im sure I'll get plenty of chances.

None taken Big mark.....and probibly just deserved. I don't for a moment want to suggest that its a good idea to kite overpowered. A 9m would hav been ideal. I am going to go to a smaller kite for sure. I was on a very small board and I have 2 rows of fins on the heal side
to help me keep an edge. I guess this was a wakeup call. But lets not take anything away from the kite ...its awesome.

Nick T, dreamers and frothers mate. We have seen them many times at Pinna's. How's Donna's kiting coming along by the way? All good??

I'll be down there for a kite after the 15th.

would the temperture/locations of the breeze make a huge enough difference ?
ive seen em up here [qld] in huge winds with big kites .

YES!

Temperature affects density which in turn affects lift generated by the kite.
