No they are not the same, but they are very, very similar. Constant maintenance is the only way to keep these large swivels from seizing, and they will all sieze eventually. They all only work marginally and are a huge "face wacker" that sits above the bar and that also creates a tangle hazard during a relaunch or if the lines go slack in a luff.
Actually the only similarity is looks. I have seen the SS ones break but not the Mutiny.
We demoed the Mutiny kite 2 years ago, the swivel is almost identical to the SS one, Ollie the designer came to the Corona with us, and he left us one of the kites, so we do know that the swivels are extremely similar.
We sell SS kites and I've never replaced a broken swivel. I've seen seized swivels on many brands (inc SS), but they can usually be freed up again with some Inox or WD40. You don't sell the SS kites but do sell the Mutiny, hmmm? How long have the Mutiny been on the market? Less than a year, so its a big call you are making and sounds like BS.

Also I never maintain my swivel and it still works like the day I got it.
Never maintaining stuff/ Thats because you are a retailer, and sell your gear every year. Real world people do need to maintain their gear. You've also only had the Mutiny kites for less than a year I think, so hardly a real world comparison either.

The swivel smashed a customers hand once he is a surgeon, sold all his slingys and move to another brand - true story.
