What is the kite aimed at this year, waves or a wake/freestyle kite?

I am also waiting for a review. I hear that they have addressed the poor low end performance and that the bar pressure is even lighter. Anyone got some feedback on this yet?

Had a short kite on the 11m Nomad 2011 only 9kts to 13kts definately alot more
bottom end and turns a bit quicker than last years. Spring tidies up the depower
lines very well. Pumps up extremely fast, over all, construction looks great. Bag works
well with a pocket for the bar. So far am very pleased with the kite.

The new 2011 Cabrinha Nomad..

powerlines, carparks, rocks and trees The nomad works well with all the above conditions. Suited to noobs it's performance outweighs it's quality.

A must buy for 2011..

The 2010 was a dud. Material discoloration, pinhols in canopy near the pump up valve, bar issues, bad low end.. What make you think that the 2011 will be different. Have a look how cheap they are going for on buy and sell. People who know are selling them quick!

Good to see you have such a positive out look ...........

it means that after you load and pop, the power eases off.
While in case of the Switchblade the power remains more lineair.
Meaning the Nomad has a c-kite like performance.

Personally i do like the lineair feel of the SB, giving a longer feel for the kite.
But then the slack of the Nomad allows for easier handlepasses. Easier to get the bar towards your hip.
SB works well too, but you need to have your pop dialed better.

Obviously havent flown 2011 yet, but i did like the 2010. A plus for the Nomad i think is its well balanced and smoother barfeel compared to most C-kites. The Nomad needs more active input from the rider but then the lowend isnt bad compared to SB. Im excited for 2011.

Having never flown a Nomad I can’t comment but would agree the Switchblade has a strong pull when unhooked even dialling in the pop the slack time is minimal compared to a C kite.

Strange that Cabrinha market the Switchblade as “The Wakestyle Kite", Dre and co who are predominantly Wakestyle (unhooked kite low manoeuvres) use the Nomad but this kite is marketed as a Freestyle kite. What is Freestyle? waves and unhooked kite a little bit above low?

I think that a kite that doesn't race forward is better for wake-style. Kites like the SB, this is because when you are ridding wake-style your kite is lower so you don't gain lift from it as it races towards the edge of the window.

You actually need a kite that is going to continue to pull after you have left the water, good pop technique is required to ride wake-style, when you have it dialled you can still get good hight from your pop, while keeping your kite low, and you can still get the lines to go slack using the right technique.

remember wakestyle is more than just doing pop tricks. Its also using obstacles, sliders kickers. SB works well for that because it has a firm and steady downwind pull.
I feel Wakestyle is more pointed at style. Power plays a big part in that (kite low). Doing less technical tricks, but do them big, powerfull to make it look good and keep the flow.

Sadly the teamriders dont speak out much about their gear. But its pretty obvious i think. There are shots of Dre riding nomad, but i think his main kites is SB. Jesse is also charging on his SB's when riding boots.
As said, with the right skills you can get the SB to work for you.

Freestyle is where the kite plays a bigger role. Doing tricks combined with kiteloops for instance. Also the slack from the freestyle kite allows for faster and more technical tricks & handlepasses.
