Just got a set of Torches. Man its the best kite I have ridden. Doing unhooked tricks is so much easier as you have so much more forward pull and really good pop. Kiteloops really well. Definite recommendation it for someone who is interested in freestyle riding.

Good to hear swich. Looks like more and more are joining the "Cevolution" this year.
For those who haven't tried a C kite in a while you might be surprised.

So how do they relaunch when tangled?

same as any other kite when tangled!

I rode the 09 Torch in Sydney 2 weeks ago. Super powerful and predictable kite.
Massive boosting and much nicer stability when unhooking than most c-kites out there.

Best C kite ever made , I miss my torch good to see Naish have not changed it to much.

Cant wait to try one.

Got my new torch the other day and have now ridden it a couple of times . Only ever owned torches 2005, 2007 and an old areo 2 . First thing i noticed was the bar setup with the slideable stopper up out of the way the sweet spot seams to be more critical oversheet and it loses power . Let the bar two far up and loses power once that has been mastered it gets good height and is really stable and smooth (other peoples observations and when i thought about it i agreed so i posted this)also doesn’t produce as much power when it turns but still turns well when depowered (unlike old torches) . Extremely happy well worth the wait!!

I can verify this, NEW vs. Torch in kitewars, both ended up swimming in. Until the next round.

what kite is the best for unhooked wave riding in light wind . size 10.5 in 2009 naish? helix or cult . 70 kg

The only reason we had to swimm in is because some cook crashed his kite into mine when i had my kite in the water and thought it would be funny and then managed to get them so tangeled we could not untangle in the waterthats why we had to swimm in

Strez, what size have you got, what knot have you got your back lines on?
I have a 10m and have the back lines on the middle knot. I haven't noticed any loss of power from oversheeting. I definitely agree with the comment about if you let the bar out too far.

got a 12 . didn`t know there was a knot ajustment for the back lines . so watever it came on . if it was ajusted so it didn`t oversheet my long arms would get way to cramped

Pretty sure they all come on the middle knot, They are under the bar floats.

I have been riding the 12m, but I rig it pretty oversheeted. I actually take out the 6" back line connector under the floats to really shorten the back lines, I really like over sheeting the kite, especially in the waves. I haven't had it stall from over sheeting yet. Torch has always been good for back line tension. It's fun to get back onto the torch from time to time, though my riding doesn't really do it justice (I wish my body still bent and bounced!).

The best C kite ever.... Love it.

On standard lines for freestyle, and 18-20 m lines for unhookt waveriding its just works so nice.

If you like unhookt riding, this is just the best out there.. IMHO.
