Today I was down at the 07 Liquid Force Demo day at Maroochydore. Was really fun to try out all the kites even if the wind wasn't very favourable. The conditions where 13 to 18 knots, and I weigh about 60 kg. Both kites where 12 meters.
Havoc - Was great fun to ride with, however the turning seems a bit delayed and slow. Turns very poorly when depowerd, if you want the kite to turn well you pretty much have to have it full powerd up. But I think they set it up on the wrong knotts on the kite another kiter was telling me so I'm not sure how that affected the turning. Depower was great, you can depower it to nothing. Airing was really fun on this kite, has a nice boost and is a good floaty jump. Backrolls are really easy on it, as you just hover. Not as grunty as a C kite, however does have a simular acceleration property like bows. Just pull the bar in and you just keep accelerating. Doesn't seem to choke like alot of c kites do aswell, which was good.
Assualt 2 - I'm not sure if the wind changed or not, but as soon as I jumped on this kite I felt as if I had alot more power than the havoc. So it's alot better in light winds. It's turning felt quicker than the havocs, something you may not expect. I was surprized, it seems to turn quite well. Jumping was decent on the Assualt, had a simular lofty kind of jump. However, they did feel slower than the havoc's but made for a nice smooth landing. I really enjoyed just carving on it, constant power. At times I even found myself depowering it slightly just by pushing it a little bit further away, which was impressive in the light wind conditions. The stopper ball on both kites works really well, however, if you don't use the stopper ball bar pressure on the assualt 2 isn't the best. But alot better than the Assault 1 I here.
I didn't get to fly the Mig as there wasn't enough time, however the constuction on it looks far better than that of the 06 kites. All the new kites look alot stronger than the old ones. The deflate valves ont he Mig are annoying but because there to small, it takes forever to deflate you kite. And you constantly pushing on the stuts and leading edge to defalte it. That was annoying just when we where packing up. But the 1 pump system on the liquid force kites seems alot bette than that on my fuel. On mine, the pipes can get kincked, which is an easy fix just gets annoying. I didn't ride it, but apparently it was surprizingly good, nice big jumps. A very simular kite to the Fuel apparently. All the bars where really good, simple and easy to use.
All over, I had a great deal of fun on both kites, however compared to my Fuel, I don't think the kites really made me want to go out and buy one just this minute. I'm interested to try out the new cabrinahs and see how they compare.
That's just my oppion of what I saw in the kites. I would have liked to try them out in better conditions to really see how well the preform in jumping.
