maybe this question is better placed here. not getting much help yet in the general section.

I haven't flown a SB. I've flown the Xbow and waroo and love them both. I've been kiting over a year now but not doing any real tricks and haven't ridden unhooked. I'm 79kg and ride a LF element 140cm with straps and am getting into using an old 6'2" strapless surfboard. Im replacing my '07 12m LF Havoc because whilst i liked it a lot, I enjoy the feel of the xbow and waroo better. Ive got a 9m waroo as my high wind kite and really really love it. I want my 12 (or 13m) kite as my main kite and I want it to perform well in light wind. I ride beaches in Northern NSW. Any helpful advice/pimping greatly appreciated. Cheers.

I'd recommend you have a look at either the new 12SB IDS or a closeout priced 12M SB3 (currently around $1400 brand new).
The waroo 13M 08 is Ok too, but is a bit slower turning than the SB's and does not have quite as good bottom end and not as easy or reliable to relaunch.
The SB is good in waves, because it has excellent balance and stability, so it drifts back as you ride toward it, and has minimal bar pressure (least on the SB3).
I don't think the CB3 would suit you in the waves, but the new CB IDS would, although I think the SB IDS is a lot better.

I don't think you would be unhappy with either a 13M Waroo 08 or either the SB3 12M or 09 SB IDS, my choice would still be the SB's based on what you want.

cheers Steve. valuable advice. out of the 3 i mentioned 12m 08 xbow, switch and 13m waroo which do you think would be best in light wind. (been getting plenty of light wind days). Maybe the waroo as its 13m?? which is best in light wind out of SB and CB. Put surfing the waves aside, just light wind performance, which one wins? Thanks again.

You should also try an 08 or 09 Havoc before you change over, it is quite different, much improved and has more lower grunt and bar pressure.

The 13M Waroo would have the best low end, but not by much as the SB3 12M had serious low end for a 12M kite. Plus the SB3 12M or SB IDS will turn faster and can be worked to get bottom end better than the 13 Waroo 08.
This years CB IDS would probably be the winner for me though for grunt, and mainly hooked in riding.
If you want a better unhook kite then go the SB3 12M or the SB IDS 12M I did not like the CB3 12M because of the pulleys on the bar, but it still worked well, and not everyone was bothered by the pulleys. None of the 09 Cabrinha kites have pulleys on the bars but.
