hey im gona invest into some c kites 2 replace my waroos as i have seen the light i jst want 2 know how much depower is on the 06 compared to the 07 as im prolly gona go 2nd hand being at school n not working n all.. so i shud jst know whether i shud rather invest into the 07s if they have alot more depower n stability than the 06, also how do they compare power and performance wise?

please help!

wouldnt go 06, wernt as good as they could be, 05's were better i reckon but i would seriously go 07. Extrememly better light wind performance, way better depower. Im 60kg with an 11m and my wind range is about 12-27knts (absolute max and min). i had a 05 9m before that and my wind range was about 15-23knts and the 11m has even faster turning.

the 07 fuel has better-
-low end
-top end (extremely stable in gusty 19-29knts winds)
-relaunch
-colour scheme
-materials
-bar system
- there could be more but im tired

But the only reason i can get so much out of this kite is knowing how to tune the 5th line, i rekon pulling in about 2.5inches on the 5th trim improves the range, turning and lift of the kite but might just be me. but in saying all this i havnt tried too many kites this year and might be a bit biased as i have really only owned fuels but the 07 is definetly worth the money.

yeah well i was basically just looking at fuels atm anyway, i used 2 fly a 04 as my first kite and i loved it so i was thinking of going back 2 fuels. isnt the 07 bar quite complex? with some 5th line cleat or somthing aswell as depower cleat? sounds a bit full on.. owell testing will tell all, might have 2 arrange som demoes

07 Fuels are the ****, I wouldn't worry about depower to much anyway. It's the power of the fuel which you will love!

The 07 fuel is the way to go, They may cost more than the 06 but
They turn faster
Have more low end power
The top end is huge, I'm 55kgs & I can be out on my 9 without depowering the kite at all while guys 15kg heavier are out riding 7m 07 fuels.

I didn't have the '06 Fuels but from everything I heard go the '07. I had '04 15m & 11m and now am on '07 in the same sizes. I can get better low end from the '07's (due to the sliding stopper) and better top end. The bar is good for me - I usually trim a little 5th to keep the slack out, and find that it helps to pull a little in when it is light. The below the bar trim takes a bit of getting used to but now I love it.

The front pigtail is great for waves, but for general riding/jumping use the 2nd pigtail as the power is better.

Can't go wrong!

Hey charl dv, i ride a 06 fuel and love it, haven't rode the 07 yet so am yet to compare but i just modified my bar to have the same set up as the 07's you can buy all the stuff from any slingshot dealer, every thing is the same except for chicken loop line, adjustable stopper and cleat.
It cost me $120 for the gear and i now have all the advantages of the 07 without the price of a new kite, awesome for unhooking as you have huge depower so you hook in suicide and don't have to relaunch via 5th line if you mess up.
Only thing i had to do for the mod is shorten my front lines just above the chicken loop line, was very easy as you have a leader of spectra so you can splice it and sew only took around 1 hour for full mod.
Anyways hope this helps as you could save yopurself big bucks by buying 06 fuels and doing the bar mod to have 07 advantages.
Cheers.

how did this mod affect the low end? because the kite itself looks very very similar, i think the wingtips are slightly wider though. i wasnt looking for the depower of the kite i was looking for the grunt ;)

Can't say it made any difference to the low end as the lines are all the same length still. Yes they do lack a little in the low end and i haven't rode the 07's yet but have checked them out and look very similiar to 06 so i would get a ride on both if you can organise to be sure.

yeah everyone says 06 had a bit of a low end problem, even mag reviews. but i def would like to try both to see what is the haps, i want to buy fuels for their grunt not their lack of it.

For my mind the 06s turn a bit faster and having a lower aspect ratio, generally have a bit more truck like pull. They also have less depower and don't fly as far forward in the window. The 07s seem to have a bit more hang time as well. If riding chicken loop, the 07s are a really sweet kite. Huge depower and genuine C kite performance. Unlike other fake Cs out there at the moment, it can be ridden 4/5 line with an easy conversion. Personally, I probably marginally prefer the 06s as on a fixed bar with short lines, depower doesn't really matter and the extra stability and turning speed are more appreciated for down the line surfing. Really comes down to what you want to do with the kite.

yeah okay, i just heard the 06 has almost no low end grunt. i want to ride unhooked, depower doesnt bother me, thats y i gt my 9m waroo as a back up!! i just dont want to buy a 06 and have almost no bottom end from it, maybe if i put the 5th line cleat on it to flatten it out like the 07...

Mate the 06 comes with the 5th line cleat already on. And i definetly wouldn't assume that they have no bottom end at all, get on one and you will soon tell for yourself instead of listining to all the hype about peoples own kite.

I guess that's the theory, but I'm sure there is more to it than just aspect ratio. I ride 06s and my wife rides 07s so the comparison is from what I have found riding them side by side on a number of occasions (most times on a 9m). Definately agree with the comment about trying both. Also, I can't say that I have noticed much difference in the low end between both years.

i currently ride the 06 fuel and i dont really find its that bad at low end, however its not really a light wind kite i find. Im about 80 -83 kgs and i ride a 13m. It doesnt have heaps of power, but is great for unhooked moves. But the last kite was a rhino 02 which is no low end and pulls like a truck on steriods. But from the different kites i have riden the 06 fuel is fine. P.s. does anyone know if the 05 and 06 bladders are the same???
