lost count of how many times i've flown the three mtr kite over winter, i now i've only sailed once [been nursing tennis elbow left arm and crook shoulder right arm, kite flying doesnt seem to agrevate them mouch]
I bought a 7mtr 5 line kite and i've had it out at least half dozen times, just need to sell my w/s board and think i'll get a 12mtr cab switch ,a couple of lessons and have a go I've posted a vid my son took yesterday with the camera,,,quality is crap...but i'm pretty happy with kite skill level at this stage.

Try fly those patterns with the 12m SB and see how ya go .>>>>> SERIOUSLY ONLY KIDDING,PLEASE DON"T . What you should be getting out of flying a Small/trainer kite is kite control skills and muscle memory as well as a decent knowledge of where the kite is safe (edge of the window) and where it is generating power. if you have those skills down then you are ready for the big kites, just take it slow.

other good skills to try is flying the kite up and down each side of the window with one hand. This helps develop the kite skills needed to body drag as well as master getting the board on your feet with no awkward dives of the kite.

Goodluck with it all mate.

Smaller kites react quicker but slow down a little. This will help gain the control you will need to use when using bigger kites. You try some of the moves on the vid with a larger kite in may end up as a laugh on youtube and a few painful days. (we have ALL been there)

Take your time start in lower winds (with your 12m) and learn how each kite reacts in the wind "window".
Attempt to drag yourself gently in one direction on the sand. Also see youtube for a heap of 'learn to kite' videos to get how to do this.

Good luck and happy safe kiting!!!

Hi Pirrad,

You could also just track down a few kiters and ask them who they recommend for lessons. It will save you and your gear a lot of grief if you find a decent instructor. With the kite skills you already have, you should advance quickly which will save you a lot of money.

Good luck and enjoy the sport,
