Hi im really keen in gettin into kitesurfing and have been offered a cabrinha convert 9m kite 2010 and a underground kite tahee board which is 141cm long by 42cm wide they both look nearly brand new for 800 bucks with a harness pump lines etc

I will be kiting in WA rockingham area and im 85 kgs 6 foot tall im a bit of a noob and will be taking lessons before I go out by myself just wondering if its a good buy or should go for something else ??

I started on a 2011 Convert and had no issues, great all round kite and good to learn on.
Not sure on the 2010 bar set up, i think its the same (IDS) as 2011 just without the spring up the centre lines, you might want to check on that though.
Price is Ok as long as its all as new condition.
Youll need about 20knts for the 9m but im guessing that would be standard sea breeze for you,

I started on a 2010 convert (12m). It's a good kite to learn on - slow turning, fairly good low end, easy relaunch. My brother is still using it now without any issues. Check the lines though - if they are original they probably would have stretched way past max adjustment you can make so a set of new lines might be required.

As mentioned, IDS system from 2010 is pretty much the same as 2011, minus the spring. I think the chicken loop (and QR) might be slightly different too.

Also check the kite for wear and make sure bridle is not worn and pullys turn freely.

Could be a good kite or not depends on the condition really. Bring it to your instructor in your second or third lesson. Any experienced instructor should be able to assess the kite condition, bar and lines conditions, line tuning and safety systems in about 5 minutes.

Hi I ended up buying the kite it might be a 2011 it just said sep 2010 on the kite they normally release the kite the previous year I have noticed a spring on the bar and lines and they are not freyed or faided at all prob just used a handfull of times ill take a pic and post it when I get home thanks for the replies guys

Hi here is my lines it has the spring and is in good nick I was at the kite surfing shop organising my lessons and the lady said I could use these lines on a new ozone kite which could save.me 500 bucks is this ok

I can't quite remember which year the cab system went form a double front line safety system to a single line system.
The Ozone kites all use a single line safety so if your bar is the double front line type it may not effectively depower the kite.
I also tend to think that when you are learning it is better to have kites that all fly the same so I would look around for a larger convert or the newer version

So this is the kite and The bar and lines looked it up its a 2010 2011 model

Yep that looks to me like the mini 5th line bar that uses both front lines to depower the kite when you use the quick release.
It may not fully depower a Ozone kite

Check with your instructor before you purchase any more kites

hi guys had a lesson the other day and used my kite instructor was impressed with my kite thought it was a great buy I was surprised on how hard he told me to pump it up and how easy it was to re launch it I did some body dragging the setup ect was really good ill be doing another lesson on the 21st of dec hopefully ill have some board exp thanks for the advice guys
