Thanks for the input gents, it seems to me getting out in the surf on a TT is all about aggression. The more aggressive you are the less likely you are to come unstuck.. most of the time. Will give the wave pop a try next time I'm out.
Yes and no, running is the safest option, but in reliable conditions you can get a good feel for what you will "safely" boost over and what you can't.
Flipside is, being too aggressive in gusty conditions and/or get your boost wrong and you will get smacked by the foam / lip mid jump.
Worst case you boost, get hit by a lip 15 foot up and pulled 15 feet back down before getting smacked and the washing machine starts

Assuming strapped and decent wind I will normally take on any wall of white water under double overhead, but only if I'm comfortable that I'm boosting to triple overhead to give me some margin for error.
