Hi all, I am new to kiting have had 5x2hr lessons and 3 x1hr sessions out there by myself and am enjoying learning a new discipline very much after 23 years windsurfing. I had to perform my first self rescue for real yesterday in offshore wind which I have mixed feelings about, made it back to shore in one piece with all my gear packed up and in tact so I guess I can claim success on that one but that is another story. Just been checking my bar and lines and I am curious what this adjustment on the steering lines is for (see photos) it's a naish bar and it seems to me to be a fine adjustment on what the de power adjustment on the bridles already does is this correct. I have not changed anything I'm just curious as to what it's for.

Hi mob dog,
Those are for slightly lengthening/shortening your steering lines to adjust for line stretch/shrink which happens over time.
Allows you to tune the kite back to normal settings. Nothing to do with the depower setup.

Ah yes that makes sense thanks for that.

What Simsurf said and also to adjust the bar length to accomodate larger/small kites. How it shows in the pic is at its widest point, if you were to rotate 180 degrees and put back in the line would be at its narrowest point.
