How bout old mate at Botany on the weekend, he throws 4 lines out at the beach full of swimmers and hundreds of kiters. I got there early(with about only 4 other kiters) and politely said,
"hey mate, its gonna get really busy with kites here, but at the next beach down there'll be hardly any, so its probably a better spot" (didn't ask him to leave at all, just suggested walking 50m down the beach to get away from the building crowd)

he just tells me my kite is very dangerous and I need to be careful of the people haha, and leaves his 4 lines out the whole day.

hopefully noone got hooked up, but It was very possible considering that sometimes when you turn around to go back out and there's 30 kites coming towards you, people launching the other way, and 4 fishing lines downwind of you that you're not sure how far out the hook is.

I didn't want to be pushy with him because I know people might complain about kites since accidents do happen. But next time im going to try a bit harder to get him to leave.

I think he has a point - your kite is very dangerous on a beach full of swimmers and perhaps less predictable than 4 fishing lines... Put yourself in his shoes.

yeah good point, 300kg line can cause much more damage than 3kg line!

But it is my experience as a fisherman and observer of fishermen that you walk off down the beach a fairway, its just a common courtesy and you'll get more fish.

Picture someone fishing in the middle of Manly/Bondi/Surfers Paradise/Snapper on a Sunday, this is pretty much the equivalent of what he was doing in my eyes.

I got caught by fisherman last week. Lucky his line stuck between my fins and board and not around my feet. That guy was using very strong line and he couldn't cut it.

Be careful near fishermen... They don't know how dangerous they can be.
