Bali has not to strong winds. It has been better in Sumatra. Last year it was howling there and great spot. Check out on Google: kitesurf sumatra.

June/July/August are the best months
as you said the wind tends to be light but is consistent.
A board with volume and kite suitable for your weight in 12 knots will normally be OK for Canggu.

I was in Canggu in October last year (all month) and I could have kited at Canggu most days. It's not super windy but guys were riding both twin tips and surfboards and doing really well. I kicked myself that I didn't have gear there, but I just didn't think it would be windy at all.

I was there in June and wind was probably between 12-15 knots most afternoons.

Was there last week. Windiest day I saw would have been about 12 knots.. Two 14's out. better waves to be had.
