what is dacron

if I cut up a leading edge from.kite and stick or sew it on another leading edge as a patch is dacron the material on the leading edge only? I.e u can only put leading E material on l edge. Thanks

timmy theres plenty of purpose made patches available just for that that wont require you to cut up a kite or sew.

but yeah... certaintly dont put the canopy material on the leading edge as a patch it wont last.

Thanks kozzie.so what alternatives is there in general hardware shop remote area(exmouth) that probably wont have dacron. Shall I just get the best thing

Also, might seem obvious, but make sure you've checked your whole kite bag for a repair kit, sometimes it's hiding in there and you've never known it's there!!

Yes he has dacron..and I found some in bag too..thanks jonno.at least I think.its dacron.and a bladder too

youll know its a dacron patch cause the glue wont bloody stick hahahaha good luck with all applications clean with rubbing alcohol let it dry completely and weight the new patch with rounded (preferably circular edges ) keep weights on it for a day or so, overnight works but hay why not

I sew repairs on foil kites and have been for over 15 years. The one thing I've learnt is that glue is poo! Use it to hold the initial materials together, but the true strength comes from the patch being sewn in. Bladders different story.
