After many years kiting with a twin-tip board, I intend to try my regular surfboard (a 6'6" hybrid shape Tuflite epoxy) in the waves later this year. Is it reasonable to try this board without foot straps, or should I install plugs and straps? If straps are recommended, where should they be positioned (relative to the center line and mid-point)? Are there any structural aspects to consider when installing plugs for the screws?

Cheers.

Don't even bother installing straps, just go out and play. Once you have your head around water starts, its a piece of pie.

Remember a SB is not a TT and you must balance your weight more forwards if not all your weight on your front foot. Seen to many guys bogging down with too much weight on the back foot.

Enjoy
