hey all!
I'm a danish kiteboarder who travelled to Australia to do a lot of kiteboarding!
I came to Sydney cause I have a lot of aussie mates here and I thought that there was going to be more wind! :(
So I have decided to go on a big roadtrip down south and then further up north on the westcoast.
I'm planning this trip to end in march and hopefully I'll be back in Sydney by then!
I've got a van and right now I'm pimping it to be a very cool kitesurf/surf van!
My kitesurfing skills are good and surf skills alright!
I was wondering if any of you guys had time to join me on my roadtrip?
so far I got 1 or 2 seats left in the van till adelaide (visiting a friend for a short period here)
then from adelaide I prob. have more free seats!
My english is very good and I'm looking for a kiteboarder who's not a beginner!
I really want to go looking for all the flat water spots, so a freesstyle/ wakestyle kiteboarder would be preferred, but I'm going to surf waves as well!
I hope that there is another kiteboarder just like me that just wants to go out and kite a lot!

my phone number is: 0450323467 and my mail is simon.reseke@gmail.com

U can give me a call or a mail if u wanna join me.

regards SIMON!

ps. the van is fully equiped with camping gear, so we will be camping down the coast!

Australia is pretty wide - an area in Queensland the size of France and Germany combined is currently under flood water. If you leave Sydney 28th Jan driving alone, you won't get to Perth until at least the 1st of Feb. Then you'll have to leave on the 10th of Feb to get to Adelaide by the 12th. I'd just go to Adelaide - there's a few butter flat water spots on esturies to the south, or you could go to Whyalla which is a half days drive. Other people on this forum might have ideas about spots in between.

Just re-read you're message and I think I mis-understood. The advise doesn't change though - the wind will be dropping out in March for WA :o(

I hope you like driving !!!

because you are going to be doing more of that than anything else on that schedule.

ie: Sydney to down south and up north WA and then back to Sydney by March via the coasts ( as I assume you want to kite as much as possible ) is going to take a hell of a long time.

If you are in Sydney now you would probably be better off driving down the coast towards Merimbula/Eden are at this time of year you should be getting decent wind, decent weather and reasonable surf. If you then wanted to go on to Melbourne and the surf coast Great Ocean Road and on to Adelaide ( approx 700km from Melb ) you could fit that in as well. Melb to Sydney ( Via Hume Hwy ) is about 800km and can be done in a day.

Alternatively ..... forget Melbourne forget Adelaide and drive straight to Perth do not pas go. do not collect $200. Kite around Perth, go up to lancelin, gero and coronation etc...... then head back to Sydney. Sydney to Perth = a long way, probably 5-6 days of 10hours + driving a day and the same on the way back ( probably longer in your " pimped out kitesurf van "

Hi Simon, I'm a fellow Euro living in Sydney, will hit Perth next Saturday for a kite trip heading north with 2 mates. Will be back in Perth on the 6th of February to drop one of them, then not sure what I'll do. Driving back to Sydney through the coast and kiting a lot sounds great, if the timing is good for you I'm in!
Cheers,
Antoine.

hmm. I might not hit perth then if the wind is going to drop in march.
If I find a nice place (butter flat water) on my way down to adelaide I'll probably just hang around there as kitesurfing was going to be the biggest part of the trip and not driving! haha..

I was more interested in people who would like to join the trip.
and it would be very nice if u could give me some good flat water spots down south :)
