We are looking at the beginning of a new thing here I believe.

There's a few Of these around from a couple different companies and at the moment the price and the battery life is a major restriction but once they start being made on a bigger scale and battery life gets better these restrictions will ease and we will see a lot more of these.

A hydrofoil is undoubtedly the most efficient way to propel yourself across the water at speed and standing on the board like that would give you the leverage to steer it through all kinds of conditions plus it would be a lot of fun.

I think eventually we will see these become there own sort of sport and even a legit form of transport

Could you jump on one of these to get to a place like Rottnest Island or outer reef, take the foil off, leave the foil of the beach or attached to a floating bouy, paddle surf your remote wave, reattach the foil and cruise home?

opens up possibilities and removes the need for a boat for those sort of missions.

Depends if you want to surf on a $10,000 board battery.

Please stop this. My yoga councillor/instructor says that I have to be content and happy with my lifestyle and quite frankly you guys are not helping at all.

Youngbreezy makes a valid point. My carbon electric skateboard is the bomb, especially after a couple of beers. Great range, good speed - look how far they have progressed in the last 5-10 years.
Bring on the foil surfboard I say

A lot of DIY people are experimenting with this. A lot of good (if not great) results. Some of the company pricetags are 12k $ US. U can achieve simmilar (if not better) results under 2000 Euros imo if u already own foil and board. (and got buddy with 3D printer)

Look up pacificmeister on yt (him and few others clearly show waterstart). Few great people of all nationalities and ages are doing their best to try different setups etc and share with every1 for free.

Interesting suff if u are up for little brainstorm with simple mechanics and electrics, new toy with a massive pricedrop.

One of them quotes 1 hour run time, and there is video of water start. $12,000 US though, out of my price range

$12K to have a sensation exactly like skateboarding really slowly on a dead smooth road.

Yay.

Yeah, I can't see it would be "fun" like other sports where you go to the beach and do it in the same spot for a couple of hours (apart from the first few goes).

I can see it more as a "fun alternative form of transport". Maybe go for a cruise up the coast, have lunch, cruise back. Maybe to access islands and outer reefs as previously mentioned. Go up the river to a winery. Or an extra toy for the ultra rich on their massive expensive yachts.

It's like how I felt about an electric skateboard. I had a go on an electric skateboard a few times which was fun but then decided not to buy one as I didn't see it as a "fun sport" but an alternative form of transport and I didn't need another way of getting somewhere in my current situation (I'd prefer to ride and get the fitness benefits of riding a bike). I did think back and thought that there were other places I had lived in the past that an electric skateboard would have been perfect, but unfortunately not now.

Sure I'd like to have a go of an electric foil but in my current situation, I don't think I need one, especially at the kind of price they seem to be asking. Too many other toys and things to do.

And for those with an unhealthy lycra fetish we have this....

Bring it on I say - the more people playing on these toys that would never work when the wind is on, the fewer kooks at my local beach

When they add one of these honda 4 strokes to a foil..theyll be in bisiness ...maybe the engine could be grafted into a little dome on the board...and the shaft down through the foil mast...and small right angle gearbox attached to a small jet drive or prop.
Who cares if it gets drowned a few times. ...pull the plug and dry it out...away it goes again.
Cant wait.

To be fair. Carviing and endless butter smooth road on a longboard super soft and grippy wheels is incredibly lush!....

That's said. No engines for me! i'll stick with leg or wind power!
