hay just wanted some advice i have had a few lessons now iam ready 2 buy should i go new or 2nd hand i come from a wakeboarding background and i think i like the wakestyle rinding but also would like to try wave riding now i have been lookn at sb3 new a f one bandit new [thats what i learnt on] or like a f one tribal 2nd hand and a naish helix i think it was any advice on any of these kites would be awesome what do u guys think about buying new vs 2nd hand i dont want 2 buy new and look like a ****er with all the gear and no idea but i dont want out dated gear thats had a hard life and is goin 2 kill me seeing iam not 2 sure wot 2 look for in terms of wear and tear

i like your attitude. No-one wants to look like a ***er, but invariably when learning to kitesurf it happens once or twice.
I would save my pennies and get 2nd hand. especially if you're likely to crash it a few times.
You'll find plenty of reading on here saying not to get 2nd hand old-gear from before 2005 etc etc ......
BUT The stuff you're looking at is recent enough not to be dangerous.
Just make sure it's in good nick.

You need to weigh up the options.

Brand new you get the big advantage of retail service, warranty etc. But you will pay more for something that you may destroy depending on your ability.

Or buy Second hand and risk a crap buy with no comeback or a bargain that will more than do the job.

If you gonna buy new, you can't really go wrong kite choice, But build quiality I would say slingshot airush and North.

Second hand just make sure you look for tell tale signs of a hard life. Compare to other kites you have seen, talk to loads of people about best thing for learners and MAKE you OWN mind up.

Fly the kite you are buying too, make sure you feel comfortable with it. If second hand make sure it does not drift to one side predominantly.

If your worried about buying 2nd hand gear that's worn out you can always buy from a shop. Most shops offer 2nd hand gear with good support and if it's your local shop they probably wouldn't rip you off too much

I bought new when i was learning. No problems, just learn to fly your instructors kite, that is where most crashing occurs. Its not like experienced kiters dont crash em, they are being designed more and more durable.
Plus you get the pleasure of opening the bag on the beach for the first time, and everything is SO crisp.

It depends on your funds and/or what you can afford.

If you buy new ,which is what I would recomend,is it going to break your heart or your bank if you damage the kite ?
If you can handle that,buy new.

Most damage is repaired between 80 and 120 smackaroos .

If you buy second hand,do as has already been suggested,and buy from a shop.They have lots of kites on consignment. It may be a little extra than buying direct,but you will get advice,help and backup.

You are selecting in the "Top Of The Range" kites.

The SB3 is a good choice as is the F One.
I would forget the Helix, go for a Cult if you want that style. Heaps cheaper.
