im a serious begginer trust me, i have never done kitesurfing before, i have played around with a 2.5 on the land and have loved it and am really hoping to try kitesurfing. basically i dont have much money and am skinny and not hugely strong, andn i was wondering what to do:
buy a kite and board now and have a go and find some lessons,
take lessons than buy a kite, board etc,
i am taking a holiday soon and am learning to surf on that and might consider buying kiting gear for that! also can any one help me choose suitable gear 4 me?

Get as much practise on a small trainer kite as possible. You'll then get much more out of lessons. After lessons you'll have a much better idea about what gear will suit you.

Kiting is relatively easy to learn but without lessons you can get into a lot of trouble!

Take Lessons

I reckon take lessons. They`ll teach you stuff in one day that you`ll probably take weeks or maybe months to figure out on your own. More importantly the safety lessons will help alot.
There`s a young lad that I saw kitesurfing here in summer (Secret Harbour. W.A.), a very good kiter but either he has never been taught or has a brain the size of a peanut. (probably both ) He rides through swimmers and surfers, launchers and lands in the middle of the crowded beach when all he needs to do is move up the beach a hundred metres or so. I even had to help him once cause he`d dropped his kite in off shore winds and could`nt relaunch, his hand was bleeding, he said it happened when the kite took off while he was pulling on one off the lines.
He obviously rides amoungst the crowds to show off but people don`t appreciate it and that`s when kite bans start.

Take lessons first. your school or instructor will be the person best able to help you into the gear which will suit you best.

People are getting pretty sick of noobs showing up at beaches trying to learn kiteboarding at their favourite spot without the aid of a professional instructor.

Many beaches are under threat of closure to kiting due mainly to the irresponsible few who refuse to do the right thing. You can probably expect a pretty hostile response from local kiters if you show up and start kooking out and crashing your kite amongst the locals and public.

Definately get lessons!
