My mate just opened lakey vue.. Accommodation right on the beach out front of lakeys. $150 for the whole place per night / sleeps 6 well and up to 12 if you have kids to hide away..

I don't really know him, I was just killing time one day and went to look at the shop, photo looked cool and I asked where it was. Only mentioned it because the original poster asked about the area.

Just trying to help out a guy asking a question and trying to point him to someone with a lot more knowledge than me.

It was obviously heavily red thumb worthy so I'll be over here back in my box.

Maybe I'll write a review on lakeys and see how many I can get? Lakeys isn't exactly news - it's been around a while.. Hence my mates building a hotel! If you think lakeys is a secret spot you need to get out more

Nobody has said it was secret... Quite the opposite; there were over 50 kiters there at one point last season.

Nobody has said it was secret... Quite the opposite; there were over 50 kiters there at one point last season.

Yes it's not a secret but getting kiters there with no surf back ground/surf etiquette. It can be dangerous and if you have problems there say good by to your kite or board or your life There's no rescue boat .the waves are for the experienced riders

I think to those three you can add surfing or kiting large waves on a shallow reef. yesterday we awoke to the sound of a massive swell booming in the distance. the surfers were first up. there was both excitement and fear in the air. there is a point where surfing goes from being something fun you do in the ocean, to an act of commitment, bravery and skill. it adds a whole new dimension to the concept of recreation when you risk serious injury. yesterday was definitely one of those days. the surfers all survived the early morning glass mountains but there were broken boards, snapped leases and some very amped characters once safely back on land. then the wind came up and it was our turn. Australian lensman Adam Lackey captured this great picture of our Brazilian friend Leonardo Loro putting it all on the line at one of the heaviest kite waves in the world. bare in mind this was low tide and the reef is only a few feet under the water. get it wrong and things won't end well. our crew took to the water a few kilometres down wind at a less committing but equally sizey break. no quality photos available from that session though I have an image seared in my mind of Kay Karstaedt hooking into an unworldly behemoth of a wave with a groomed 16-18 foot face. it was quite a day. More photos coming

... looks about what, 1 and half meters above him,,,,,,, 1m x 1m x 1m of water is 1000 kg, perched above his head, heavy enough me thinks,,,,,, or is that not how you measure it?????

Getting a bit high brow for seabreeze when "Ernest" is being quoted. Then again this could be the start of some in depth discussions on the meaning of our sport, but no what was I thinking, Criticise, Mock, Bag, Red Thumb, that's the seabreeze way!
