you will always find someone to launch your kite. everyone is friendly. you will quickly make friends and pepole will look out for you.

Yeah theres a few chicks that kite there. No worries getting a launch / land. Only thing to worry about on a twinnie is dont crowd the surfers ripping it up. If someone is on a wave, stay out of the way. Turn around if need be and you will be everyones friend. Try not to run over any swimmers, thats a bad look.

I kited Scarborough for the first time on Tuesday, Well Brighton beach anyway (same thing?).... Totally different than kiteing up at Pinna's. My kiteing was a bit messy due to thinking about what i was doing to much. Theres a hell of alot of water moving around out there! But defo good fun. I reckon after a few sessions getting used to the swell, currents, waves etc its gonna SUPER..

Oh n i was on a twintip, didnt seem to be a problem, theres plenty of ramps out there to be jumping off =)

There is a core group of kiters that regularly kite at Brighton, but the majority just finish their downwinders there and that is why you may see large numbers of kiters there.

As Summer approaches be aware of other water/beach users, eg. swimmers, surfers and other people on the beach. Brighton may have a large number of swimmers on some days, this is not a good time to drift downwind.

As mentioned above there is stacks of room between floreat and brighton, as well as between swanbourne and city beach, with some decent banks if yu have a look around.

if your into tricks and landing them, doesnt seem to be an ideal location due to the swell and the troughs in between.

i dont see any of the twin tippers out there do anything besides going in and out and generally getting in the way

It's just the landings he didn't see (too much splash down to see anything).



BTW Ms o - twinnies are heaps fun in the surf. Sure they are very diff to a surfboard but FUN in their own way. You decide.

I would never jump near swimmers, surfers or people on the beach. But I've always assumed jumping over boogeyboarders is ok?

I'm sure you'll be able to hold your own in the waves but I've never seen any girls kite down there.. I think all the chicks are at Woodies or the pond actually.

I'm not sure you'll find what you are looking for at Scarbs but if you do go one down there, no doubt you'll learn a lot by mixing it up in new conditions.

A couple of points to consider, if riding a twinny, rig bigger than you think requires as you have to deal with a downwind sweep which reduces apparent wind on the inside where you need the power the most. If trying a surfy, rig a size smaller than you think you need for a twinny as the bigger fins make a big difference and the width or planing surface needs less power to pull it along.

Pinna's has most amount of Woohoo's, beers at sunset and people to learn from.
Apart from the odd day Shan goes out, the only women you'll find on Scarbs are those tanning themselves on towels. Maybe all it will take is one little o to make the difference and start a change .....

Drop into the shop and grab a demo board if you like. Best of luck and enjoy it. If it doesn't kill you, it will make you stronger.

Was just lamenting to a fellow kite tragic about the lack of kiting fillies when, a minute later, two siddled by packing up after a sesh.

They are not alone and it seems there are few new female riders keen to take on the metro surf mush.

Improves the view over middle aged blokey paunch that's for sure!

bah you guys are hillarious. Daz there hasn't been a beer cracked since you left. and no whooohooo's either.

Still going to give it a go. Maybe find a spot for the next WACk gathering...

hahaha I think i'll share my time between the two and see which makes me smile the biggest.

We had a beer after the session on friday night. It was well deserved after my bridle snapped, although i was only 30 meters out.
Summers just beginning i am sure the atmosphere will change with the hotter days and a more regular breeze.
