Weather tends to run in 7 year cycles and there is also something about the El Ni?o and La Ni?a bla bla which effects wind and weather over periods. Don't worry it will come back one day. Its good in Noosa, you have our crap wind from last year.

It hasn`t been bad this summer. Kited more than two days a week most of the time? Remember a good few weeks of constant green arrows and howling on the beach. Admittedly it seems to be droping off early, but it did come in early as well, mid december. I think we still due for some good spells.
It`s just that we`re too spoilt here, there`re people around the world who would die for the conditions we have here in W.A.
Talking to the Euro`s that come over here and most of their best conditions are like what we experience through winter.
I guess we just have to take it as it comes and hope next season is an even better one.

This was the probably WA's best wind season for 12 years according to some of the older windsurfers around. I am sure there are many reading this forum who had a similar season to me.

well i must say that this season has been going off last nite had a good sesh only two other guys out i have been able to get generally get in at 3-4 seshs on average ,,except for the last week or so so i think its been a great season

Totally agree niall getting plenty of plenty.. How does the 5 go have been thinking of getting a 6.Again today it hit 30 knots and the 8 is a hand full. Having a fuller frame myself at 90kgs have been wandering how good it would be to have 1 more kite to choose from a 5 or a 6.Which type are you using?

2008 RRD type 9 - 'the worlds fastest turning kite' replaced this year by the Obsession a kite tempered with much better manners than the type 9 it must be said. I got the 5m type 9 at a 'run out stock' price. Completes my quiver of type (s with the 7 , 9 and 12. I have ridden the 5m twice and its an interesting animal .........it turns before you can think 'turn'........ and I'm looking to ride it more to rein that animal spirit in.

If you haven't tried an RRD I strongly recommend a demo from John and Andy at SOS at Freo. For many coming from slower kites but who have built the skills to enjoy speed --the Obsession has been a revelation along the lines of 'this is what kiting's really about, with turning speed, wind range, upwind ability and boosting power, all despite extreme stability. The type 9s are inferior in all ways except turning speed which is why I stuck with them this year but the 5m Type 9 might just be the one that's too quick for it's own good [or maybe I'm too slow].

I have also flown the Obsession 5m and could not fault that as an extreme conditions kite and would have gone for that if the budget allowed

The season has been insane.
