You could go to the beach, and pump up everyone elses kite for them, set them up, launch them, land them, pack them up. Man the BBQ, keep the esky cold and drive everyone elses car home for them.

Hey Leeds, I have just got back on the water after fracturing my fibula and spending 6 weeks wearing a moonboot.
I spent most of the time doing all of the things mentioned by the other guys ie local kite bitch, I was still down at my local nearly everyday and actually learned a lot by just watching the crew kiting. I normally spend all of my time on the water and didn't spend much time watching at all but it is amazing what you can pick up when you spend some time as a spectator.
I thought 6 weeks sounded like an eternity but the time seemed to go by pretty quick in the end and the renewed stoke and enthusiasm you get when you finally get back on the water is fantastic.

I agree with you tightlines! I broke the 3rd and 4th metacarpels in my left hand and had them pinned about 3 weeks before going to Cocos Island!!! I spent the majority of the time taking pics (bit of a photo enthusiast) and video. I also spent a lot of time helping the newbies out, stuff like catching their kites so it was easier for them to walk up wind and helped my mates out by catching, launching and laying out lines (pumping was out of the questions with a busted hand!) I also learnt a huge amount from other peoples mistakes and watching them progress. Also got a lot of kudos for having a great attitude and being their personal photographer / video man.

I know it sucks leeds, but you can always do other stuff like give your kites a good wash and maintain some of your gear...or you could do what I also did and drink like an alcoholic fish

Yep I forgot to mention I did a lot of that, talk about stack on the kilo's, guess I will just have to kite more for the rest of the season to undo the damage.

i like all those ideas but i cant put any weight on my foot even with the moonboot on

so launching landing and pumping are out of the question

however my girlfriend and i will be going down to the beach as she is into photography and im sure i could work out how to use the video camera

what about when there is no wind, what is there to do

ive been playing guitar hero watching kiting DVD's and reading seabreeze forums but just wanted some ideas to help pass the time

and yes drinking like an alcoholic fish has been good
using crutches after a few beers is quite entertaining
