Hey all,

Can anyone give me recommentations on suitable footware for kiting?

I'm currently fighting a raging foot infection & can only think that I must have stood on something when in the water last.

I have to take this as a message from the gods to put something on my feet when kiting, as I haven't been kiting long & so far I've stepped on and gotten stuck in my foot-
a blow fish
a fish hook
and now whatever it was that has me sore & limping with the Elephantman's foot.

Soooo, I'm looking for something that will protect my delicate flowers of feet & won't get in the way of the board straps.

They also have to look cool enough whether I'm wearing boardies over my wettie or not

Any help, links, suggestions, appreciated.

p.s.- I've tried hardnening up, bit the concrete just weighs me down in the water

cheers

Thanks ezza

They look good; and I'm guessing that the strap on top doesn't get in the way of/catch on, the board straps?

it didn't seem to for me, the strap seemed to velcro on with no overhang. If you had a large size and narrow feet maybe it would? Like wetsuits it's probably best to try on before you buy. I didn't have that option. Compared to the Peak booties I had prior to that the FCS ones were much flexier and fitted tighter to my foot, and seemed to hold no water so I didn't notice them going in and out of the straps. Don't forget to adjust your straps before you go out though

I've got billabong booties bought from my local surf shop. I hardley ever wear em, but they are great if u go away to locations where there is coral reef etc...They are really light and thin while still offering great protection from sharp coral... Have a nice velcro strap too... Might b an idea to check out your local surf shop
my 2 cents

I would have thought it was a message from the wind gods telling you to hurry up and get better real quick so you spend more time on the board

wet suit socks are the best because they let you feel the board and slip in and out of the straps the best by far . rubber on rubber is too much grip.

i tried booties for the first time yesterday cause of the coldness, at first i really liked them, felt snug and toasty and also as a bonus it stopped the jet of water that goes up inside my steamer and fills up where my calf muscle is meant to be. Anyway took them off after ten mins as i kept loosing my board mid jump etc..

zing!

haha, yeah, that too

Still though, the fish hook & blowfish incidents only happened on entering or leaving the water, so I'll be getting something for the feet; I don't want to have to deal with not being able to kite anymore.
This kiting gig absolutely rocks.

cheers all for the suggestions

Maybe just bad luck with the first couple!

But the kiting just keeps on Rockin, good luck with it

Hope you don't have to install to many of those boat seats, cause it will get very hard looking at any sort of wind if you work on the water

looks like there's more options than I thought there would be; I guess I'm not the only one messing my feet up

wdric- yep, I love this kiting shiat so freaking much it hurts, and not only my feet
the seats are meant to set me free so I can kite as much as I want

spacemonkey- still a noob, I'll try bindings one day I'm sure, but I think I need to practice my boardie over wettie skillz first
