I witnessed a very dangerous situation yesterday arvo at Floreat beach it amazed me there was no injury to the public.

I was having family BBQ with kids and watched the guy and girl try and launch (cabrihna 10m I think) In next to no wind. I was relieved to see them give up after the first attempt because there were many general beach goers directly down wind of them.

Carried on with what I was doing and about 20 minutes later saw the kite death looping down the beach dragging the girl + a guy for about 30m. The kite finally came to rest amongst the general beach users and as you can imagine their were some pretty pissed off people.

Come on guys!! Think about what your doing. with incidents like this going on we are sure to lose another great spot to launch. I wouldnt be surprised if complaints will be made after this. If you are a newb and you really need to give it a go remember the basic rules. If you cant find an empty stretch of beach give it a miss.

The kiters were spoken to by other kiters and are now abviously a lot wiser and hopefully learnyt from this experience.

It could have been a lot worse.

Almost lost Floreat 2 years ago. Remember the trial ban launching setting up etc north of the groin.. The city could quite easily bring that back again. Kiting at scarbs has well and truly been under council scrutiny the last couple of years too

Let people know it's to dangerous to contemplate taking up a sport that can cripple or worse kill you or some poor beach goer
Tell them it takes 5years just to stand on the board
You have a screw loose and it brings out your gay tendencies, sharks and the sharks you've had to beat off along with yourself

Share the stoke you say, let them enjoy the sport you love you say..... pffft

If the cost of a kite gear goes up because of lack of numbers then that's the price you pay to keep the kooks out and the beaches open.

If you don't follow the above advice then SHUT THE F&@K UP, and deal with it,
Better still tell them windsurfing is in vogue

The hot weekend days with marginal/gusty winds are the worst times, lots of beach goers and lots of beginners.
Any new kiters out there take note those are the days when you really do need good kite control, so pick an area where there is no people or wait for a more consistant breeze, there is a reason most of the more experienced kiters aren't on the water.

Also have to wonder how someone riding an SB (so I'm guessing possibly a surfer himself) could be such a selfish c**t - when he should be able to relate to just how poxxy it is, having a tool like him, straffing through a line up.

Problem is what are the chances those peeps actually read seabreeze!!!!!!

It's a shame more people don't.. I am somewhat of a beginner and I have learnt a lot about what not to do by reading some of the posts on this site.
