Hi guys

I know behind all of the comments there are some good humans on the breeze.

I have a car that I was going to sell on the cheap before leaving for travel and found this:

"I know its a big ask but they say "if you don't ask you won't know".
I'm in desperate need of transport. On a pensioner budget which is now zero. I was looking to purchase a vehicle, started off with 1,500. Unfortunately my silkie got sick and the Vet took most of it. Now my other one is sick and the Vet took what he didn't take the first time around.
I am an administrator for my disabled brother which means i need to get to banks and meetings, hence the need for transport.
If anyone has a vehicle that they don't want/use I would appreciate it muchly. I don't have the funds but am prepared to swap furniture for it if need be.
I don't care what it looks like as long as it is auto, has rego and is running."

So the whole her getting the car part is sorted and she is more than grateful. I could hear the sign of relief and absolute disbelief in her voice.

Here's where you come in......I would like to make my car a bit nicer for her.
Problems:
Dent in boot
back door has no window (but I have the window to replace it in the old door)
It probably needs looking at by a mechanic (all those things a regular service would do)
Odometer is temperamental
window winder has snapped off drivers door
Roof upholstery has come unstuck

Please pm me if you are in perth (scarb) region and could be of assistance.

I will pass the car on 18th July.

Thanks in advance

Little O

Anyone able to provide any help to fix any of these things would be great.

I would give you a hand with the window and roof lining if I were in WA.
The roof lining, as has been said can be stuck back on with contact cement, or I have found liquid nails can work to. All you need to do is get a tube of liquid nails (and a gun to squirt it with) and put a whole heap of it up in there. Then get a few sticks or something the right length to jam them in there and hold the lining up hard against the roof. The window can be a little tricky but it's not to hard for someone who has had a look at one before. The dent may be able to be popped out a bit with a suction cap or plunger, or if accessible from the inside, hit it with a mallet.
I'm not really any help, but there's something to think about.

Dont use liquid nails, 3M spray on contact adhesive is definately the way to do it(available from auto shops and maybe Bunnings). I cant beleive you still haven't fixed that window. I can help with both the lining and window after Tuesday.

Let me know when.

yeah little o took some pics, make sure u fill out the rego transfer papers little o and try and get some1 to service it if you can, just a simple oil and filter change, maybe check the other fluid levels (brake, water, p/steer) will make sure it lasts for the lady who gets it. if your in need of help for this just let me know.
safe and happy travels.

Just wanted to say that trent is an engineering animal.
He dismantled the door, winding mechanism, all the nuts and bolts, and reassembled it from memory pretty much.
If it had been me or Nick we'd have had all the doors off and windows out, trying to figure how to put the first one back. And all in the time it took two of us to detach and glue the roof lining.
tgladman you're a legend.

Well actually dude, if she is talking about what happened in my car, where the entire "roof lining" (not the material) falls down there is no way in hell you will stick it back up with 3m. Obviously if you only need to restick some cloth then yeah 3m will work, but personally I would just rip that out.

Maybe you should ask that thieving Vet for something too!

Old ladies who look after their disabled brothers should be allowed to have 2 dogs and not pay a cent for their professional care.[}:)]

Seriously ( just for a change )
As an ex pro driver I'll offer to pick you up from anywhere; anytime; and drop you at the airport at whatever time will save you any wait.

Unfortunately my wife tells me Im not allowed to marry you Sometimes she is just plain unreasonable

Pics would be awesome. That would be the jewel in the crown to get everyone here determined to work some pass-it-on scheme of their own.

Stick on a cut out needle, leave it at 50km/h. Lil O Ladies don't drive faster than that usually and if they do, they're the ones who don't care how fast they're going anyway!!
