As any kiter been injured by a croc in australia?

I kited in places there are crocs like the rivermouth at yorkeys near the cairns airport.
I kited in the daintree river mouth once (I'm crazy yes) it's a great speed spot, with a super long straight line of super flat water, with perfect angle to the wind.
I kited in Sasia, near cap york, with offshore wind.
I wont do that again except for yorkeys.
Never seen any crocs except in the zoo.

Dude I've been 1.5m away from a 3m crocodile face to face for 5 minutes and I didn't turn off the TV.

has a kiter ever been attacked by a shark???

never heard of any,

body dragging back to your board would have to look alot like a sick injured seal or fish.

Yeah, Alwin van Breda was attacked by a shark on a downwinder. Managed to fight it off with his board after it came at him a second time.

I personally think that wearing crocs makes you look like dumbass, even if you believe you are a supercool, egomaniac, uber kiter!!!
As far as crocs attacking people, I've not heard of any incidence of that happenning, but I have it under good authority that they start to stink like sh#t after prolonged wear!!!
Bottom line: Don't do it dude. Even if you over weight, wagon driving mates reckons it's all the rage!!!

crocs are great, can you find shoes cheaper than that, 5 bucks at coles, they last longer than any other tongs, they are more comfortable than everything, they are great for walking long distances.
they look bad ok. but I wear a board short over my wet suit so its ok

I have kited the Daintree river mouth as well on a low tide. Isn't it the best spot? Perfect flat water that goes on for ages. I kited there for about 10 minutes on my own before I got too paranoid and kited back to Wonga. I have fished the Daintree for quite a few years and have seen some very big lizards and right at the mouth in particular. Damn shame because it really is a great spot.

A few months back the local paper had an article on two crocs that were hanging around the banks of Tomatis creek mouth (Yorkey's creek mouth) and had a good photo of the bigger one sunning himself on the bank that was apparently only a few hundred meters from where we kite. I normally don't give them a second thought until the weather heats up and they are on the move. We had a good 15 knots in the Yorkeys mouth a day ago and I must admit I was getting quite paranoid when body dragging back to my board. I felt like I was a lure for either the crocs or the box jellies, not a good feeling.

Hey Gumby

1. buy a "Go Joe" for your board - the wind will blows it to you for a quick take off, none of the weaving crap to get up wind or chased by croc jellies.

cheers
