Are they as good as the hype or is old school better?

Yep they are that good... I have had both Duotones are really good but safety's are prone to breakage. On old pully bar ATM works really good but click bars are good.

Easy to depower, pain in the bum to power up, not the best system in gusty wind, too slow, it suits riders who have trouble reaching the trim strap, some love it, some don't ??

I've had 2 I find them great I also know other people that use one no issues worth the extra money

I didn't like being unable to just pull the strap etc and go back to "full power". And if I tried to power up and wind the knob when the bar is sheeted in and loaded, as the mechanism slipped. That's the limit of my complaint...

Is there anyone besides the the major brands producing click bars?

Had mine for a 2.5 years now in the 5 line config and a lot of use
Feels a bit clumsy when you first use it

There things that are great and not great ... for me

Pros
Long throw for best depower in waves , works great with the Neo which stays a little powered up even when depowered
Excellent for fine tuning , especially for foiling when going upwind/downwind . I like the clicking thing :-)
No depower strap hanging about
No trying to find that perfect spot in the cleat for tuning the kite when on the go . Perhaps I'm picky ...
High quality components
Seems less prone to wear and tear than I thought it might be

Cons
Can be tight to click when under pressure .. both to power and depower
Sticky throw , but you do get used to it and it seems to go away over time
Adjustment/maintenance of line length cant be done with the simple knot system as in the trust bar . Has to be done with different length pigtails at the end of all the lines ( suppied , but you need a whole range of them after a fair bit of use ) ) ... you could make some pigtails with knots to fit at at the end of the lines I guess but it wouldnt be neat .
Like all lines , the internal line used for adjusting steering lines length shrinks , I just replaced them as I was losing some adjustment and it does work better now
You should watch wear points , but I havn't had any issues
Watch that the flag out insert at the chicken loop doesnt get jammed with sand , havnt had an issue but it can get tight

I wouldnt go back mainly on the benefits of ease of tuning the kite and the clean long throw . No bits of rope swinging around .
Its now fitted with SK99 lines ... jury is still out , will see how they go

I am a total click bar fanboi for riding in decent swell...Rock in fully powered, click click as you drop, push bar out and ride the face with no pull. Same depower every time and you don't have to come off your centre of gravity to depower. Once you've finished your ride, wind the power back on and head out the back.

for freestyle it is maybe a waste of money. I like it foiling but if i didn't have it would get by.

i'm broke, but if i lost it i would buy another one.

I've had one (Duotine 2020) for a few months now and I'm still on the fence. I'm pretty tall so never had a issue reaching the old school type rope and cleat but my wife brought me the new one so I'm using it.

I really like the simple button de-power, but the twisty power up thing is a right pain in the arse. It just never seems to be a simple thing to power back up. Switching hands to twist it all the way round, slipping in my fingers halfway through etc... Will be interesting to see how it is after 12 months use.

Yep they are the ducks guts. Been using the same bar since 2018. Never had an issue with the mechanism or anything. Super tidy setup. No dangling de-power line, pulley system to tangle up on. All self contained and very neat. Ceramic ball swivel below the safety line never fouls. Keeps the center safety line always straight and untwisted no matter how many loops or rolls you do. Some say they can be difficult to trim up when powered sometimes, but all you need to do is back off the bar pressure and twist the bar end. No problem there. As for quick de-power. My thumb can click that little de-power button quicker than my butthole can clinch. Also, you can change between high V and low V setups very quickly and easily on the beach without any tools. There is a trim indicator window built into the bar and a indicator on the right hand line coming out of the floater of the bar so you can instantly tell how much trim you have on/remaining. Changing to 5 line is easy as threading the 5th line onto the ring near where the line stopper at the base of the lines is and then threading it back through the V distributor. You can set this bar up to fly any kite quite quickly, without tools on the beach.
I will never go back to a pulley de-power system again.

Ok Ive looked into the price of these c/bs, the industry trying to price its self out of the market?
get real guys this device looks great but its not worth $1000,most kiters are on a beer budget
this is champagne prices,its a race to the botton if the industry keeps this up.

Ocean Rodeo has or had one looked a lot better than the click bar. No shops here have it unfortunately. Not sure on price but probably about the same.
