Going to have to disagree. Kites without pulleys will never be able to adapt to wind gusts, bar changes and turn without distorting the canopy as well as a kite with pulleys.
I would say the brands that get it right are the ones making pulleys with safety/ back up systems should the pulley brake (Saw them on the new Naish kites, other brands??)
Predominant unhooked riders would like a kite without pulleys as the inefficiency in the kite to adjust and grab the wind at certain angles is not as good, creating 'slack' for handle passes etc. With some possible canopy flapping, jellyfishing, less bottom end as a trade off.
imo, more kites are doing away with the pulleys, i think no pulleys creates a more direct feel and once you fly a kite without them, you wont go back. i fly a kite with bridal and no pulleys, and does none of the things you described, and has a very strong bottom end.
why bother with the expense, and inconvinience of more maintanance?
