Hey Mat, you have very good reason for wanting to be weary of stingers. If something is going to kill you up here; it will most likely be jellyfish stingers. Far more prevalent and common up here are those suckers and they effen hurt big time! And now is the season for them!!
Plumbs,,, March is the least time to worry about stingers.
Like Bramber said, all you need is a stinger suit. Hook up with your local dive shop and get a stinger suit with boots and a hoodie. I know it looks dicky but you will be safe as houses, especially if you're kiting in a Northerly - North-Easterly, as those winds bring over the stingers for sure. Not sure about Yeppoon, but check with
@Kemp90, as he lives there and knows the best spots, tides, times, etc.
Up in the tropics, it's what you DONT SEE that will kill ya.... crocs and sharks are far more obvious than jellys.
