Ok, we all talk about kooks, both young and old.

Who is a kook to you?

For me:

Board leashes, especially in onshore wind.

Oblivious to what others are doing.

Brags about kiting.

Old gear with insufficient instruction.

Old men with rubber hats.

Go on then, ban me. Ban both of me. Doesn't change the fact that you're a kook.

"unkook" Noun S: (n) unkook, clever, smart, astute, skillful, exceptionally adroit (someone regarded as awesome, cool and outstanding among peers)

Example: "That was a really unkook squiggley you just planted GreenPat"

Well I`m not sure about me being an Unkook...........
I second that genetrix, one who goes out to have fun and doesn`t give a tish about what others are riding, wearing etc. That`s Unkook.
But, there`s nothing wrong with a bit of banter. Just seems like some care more about what others are doing than themselves having fun.

I think that knowing you suck is very important:
and this knowledge can prove to be invaluable in your progression to being a better kiteboarder. Let me lay it out for you, so you understand the reasons you should admit your lack of ability to kiteboard. yeah this is for all you "pros" too .

1. As long as you know your current lack of ability is below par, you will remain humble' and if you are humble, you won't brag (no one likes a bragger). therefore, you will have more friends!

2.Kiteboarding is about progression! This means it is not about what tricks you can pull but rather tricks you can't! Try a move you can't do yet, and if you cant do it yet- oh you suck!

3. Kiteboarding is all about fun! If you take yourself too seriously, you are going to stress out and die early. Accept that you suck. laugh about it and live longer! This point is ESPECIALLY important to the high and mighty "pro" out there. Oh.. and learning to laugh at yourself sometimes means you can laugh at other people ( a must for any good peanut gallery).

4. Worry about your own progression! one of the best feelings in our sport is when you pull off a trick you have been trying to learn for awhile, thus combining both fun and progression- Aren't you glad you suck?
If you think you are the **** , you will have less incentive to get better , thus stunting your growth. I guess you can say that potential and suckiness go hand in hand. on that note, kiteboarding as a whole sucks more than anything at the moment because this sport holds more potential than any other on earth. The sad part is that we have barely scratched the surface of what can be done, try to imagine what riders will be doing this winter, or in the next few years or even when the next generation comes up.

Unkook comes from someone editing their "unhook" shirt to "unkook" with some white out on the "h"

it is beyond your estuary and flying doonah

I could, but that would be feeding the troll. I might just ban the DodgyBrother login so he can continue posting with his real one, thereby short circuiting any victory he might have wanted to win by getting banned.

I was permanetly disabled once. ( ...its a joke)

Ok, so there you have it - now I'm officially a kook too. Everyones a kook.

NB: the following secret text is in strikeout so only Forum Admins can see it:
PSSST....Hey GreenDude seeing as you're disabling logins maybe you could work on some of the over-the-top personal attackers. Some Kiters on Seabreeze could stand a bit of discipline. If they dont like it thats fine they can go away until they learn to be more friendly. Better that than have all the nice ppl driven away by the (constant) abusers.

Me

I wear sunnies, a helmet, vest, long sleeve rashy, seat harness and loads of zinc. I also fly 2005 C kites and (even though I'd give my lefty to afford a new kite) I have a great time doin my own ting. According to certain folks I also set a very pedestrian pace setting up cause I like to be safe n sure.

Yep - I am a supa-kook and frankly it is waaaayy more fun than being a hard-core boardies over wetty type of geezer. Keep it kooky folks, the smiles come easier and more often for kooksters.
