Standing with a 12 meter Speed II parked above me and an overseas tourist walks up grabs the bar and says "can I have a go"

For grabbing the bar, I almost gave it to him!

How do you turn around?

How do you stop?

Geez, you must be strong to hold that thing? (not knowing that the harness does all the work)

Where can you hire one of those things?

You can go upwind?? How does that work?

How come you dont just get dragged down the beach?

Thats a nice looking tent. What brand is that?

I've been asked that question many times, I answer with "No, it causes me massive physical pain, mental anguish and I usually can't wait for it to stop."

At which point they give me a funny confused look with raised eyebrows and reply "Oh".

Also been asked "where is the plane you jumped out of?"

Also "Where's the boat?"

Had people watch for 30 minutes and then ask, "but can you come back?" WTF?

Had some beauties in my time. Back in 2000 when the public hadn't seen the sport before we used to get people asking very stupid questions every day. Nowadays it's not so bad.

Good winds,

"you didn't see a kid on a surf board out there?" - there where at least 10 surfers visible from the beach catching waves on an outer reef. But yer, I went back out there to tell some kid his mum wanted to know when he was/why he had just gone with out saying anything [kid being ~15]. I agreed cus she was a bit weird and I didn't want her to start crying or anything. Turned out that he was out there with his Dad. Nice family communication skills they had there.

What is that thing?
Is it a kite?
my standard reply with a cheeky grin.
I bought this at the shops asked for a beach umbrella.
This is not working so I'm now taking it back but I’m having a bit of a bother getting it up the beach

Oh and what about this one
How much does that thing cost?
My reply
I don’t know, sorry I’m just holding it for some guy whilst he goes to the toilet
