On the weekendI saw a kiterout the back and a fair way down wind.
He had lost his board and his kite was inverted but still flying.
I aproached him from the upwind side to see if he was ok.
He could see me but didn't give me the thumbs up.
I circled around him a couple of times and could see he was quite exhausted.
His kite was flying quite erraticly and I was worried we would get tangled together.
Luckily he put his kite on the water and itsorted itself out and he was able to drag in.
What is the best thing to do in this situation?
I have been kiting for quite a while but I had no idea of the safe way to help us both in this situation.
If he let his kite go I would have dragged him in but I didn't want to go anywhere near his inverted kite.
What should I have done?

I'd do the same as you did also maybe grab his board if it was needed - glad it all ended well.

Prob just keeping a bit of an eye on him as you did was about the right move I'd say
