During the last day out in my steamer I noticed an incredible itch on my torso around the harness area during the second session.

Does any one know what causes this, and how to stop it as you just want to take your top off and give yourself a good scratching then and there.

My wetsuit (Rip Curl 3/2) has been used about four or five times and I rinse it (with a hose) after each use, so I'd be surprised if it's because its dirty.

I have also noticed this irritating sensation during the summer when I wear a rashie during my second or third time out.

I'm assuming it some reaction to either the fabric and or sweat but I'm surprised for it to occur in differing situations where the skin can breathe (summer rashie) and where it can't (winter steamer).

Will using something like a sleeveless cotton tee underneath alleviate the aggro?

Thanks in advance.

you could try not rinsing it
sometimes it's the micro bacteria generated by the fresh water rinse that causes the itch
they won't survive in the salt water.

or you may just need to harden up

Used to get something similar during diver training in the forces , apparently it was prickly heat, sweating isn't released through pores and becomes irritable,

I get that too. Strangely enough, it happens with a tight steamer, but only with my new harness. I think its more circulation related.

Or Crabs?

You probably just need to stop pissing in your wettie. I find i get a rash without my rashie. You shouldnt have a problem with a good rashie. Or maybe your harness needs to be looked at. Is it a comfy fit?

I get this aswell! Always after the first 30 odd mins of kiting. I use a 5 year old wetty that I rinse in fresh water after every session.
