long answer short, yes..
but depending on the board, you will struggle to stay upwind.
your better off getting a wakestyle kiteboard, contact will at pulse kiteboarding his email address is woppow@hotmail.com
he should be able to hook you up with a sweet board pretty cheap.

load of crap......... you can stay up wind on any wake board go for it buddy

u can kiteboard with anything that floats, ski's, wakeboard, surfboard, boat ect ect

i tried a cork that floats, but it was too small.

We had a door float in one day. Provided hours of entertainment. Hard to hold an edge though.

You can kiteboard on anything as stated but do you want to have fun doing it or end up screaming down wind. If you jump on the water and it doesnt matter where you end up, then yeah, use a wakeboard (cheap alternative if you already have one), but if you ever want to hold your ground easy, there are many kiteboards that are much more fun in the process.

if u wanted to go up wind u would ride a surfboard.. ride a wakeboard
