Hi all

One of the struts of my kite has a leak from the side of the valve. I have replaced these before no problem, bit of boiling water slowly peel off old valve then dry and carefully stick new valve down. Voila!! No problem!!

Problem - there seems to be a big shartage in new valves around the local shops and I was wondering if anyone new of some sort of glue or super sticky stuff (that is plastic bladder friendly!!) so that I can re-attach the old valve back onto the strut?

Yea i had the same problem, i searched around forums for a bit and someone suggested vinyl adhesive i gave it a shot works sweet.I guess just go to your local Bunnings, i found a tube of it in my shed anyway hope this helped.

Strange this is.

I know sh1t loads of people whose valves have leaked this year. Four valves on a North Vegas in one day! F.One Tribals / Bandits and an Eclipse Thruster all at around the same time.

Cost $30 buck to replace. ouch!!

Be careful and test your glue in a spare piece of bladder first, otherwise you will end up with a MUCH bigger problem than the one you first started with...

There is a product available just for this from Kitefix.com. Peel2fix is a pack that includes 3 dbl sided bladder taped sqaures that allow you to stick your original valve back on without using glues etc. Most good kites shops are starting to get this product instore, and if they havent then they really need too.

We repair lots and lots of old Slingy and Naish valves each week using these kits. They are $17.95 for a pack of 3 (3 x valve repairs.) Anyone can use it no probs.

Also there is a great product for tears in canopy and LE, Using a mesh and glue compound, Get amongst it....

common misconception. They aren't glued on to start with in most cases. They are attached using heat/press and heat will get them off better than anything else i have tried whether using hot water, or accidentally leaving them in the car on a hot day.
I only had complete success with one aftermarket glue after trying a multitude of glues. It was a polyeurathane glue but i can't find it again. sticking to u-sticks for now.

Moral of the story then:

Don't leave your kites in a hot car or in your garage on a 47 degree day!

I've done a few repairs on some very dodgy looking old bladders using the original valve and the basic Vinyl pool glue from bunnings works well on the North Bladders, I doubt it would be much different to other manufacturers materials.

We also have plenty of U-Stick valve repair kits to suit all bladders and such. The U-Stick kits are so easy and instant fix, whereas the glue is a 24hr wait for full strength before inflation.
