In the 3 or 4 years I've had my bar I've never bothered to check that all the lines were equal.

I checked them today and noticed a big difference..... kite still flys fine (Ozone Reo's).

I'm just wondering how I can trim them so they're all equal as a few knots in the line wont be enough to shorten it. Any suggestions?

** I pulled them taught and made a small knot to where the gap started.

Pretty sure you can pull the leader line through the bar end on the compact bar, move the knot up and trim off the excess. Blake Ohlsen has a YouTube video on trimming lines on various control bars, most of them are slightly different. Might help to mention which bar you have.

I seem to remember you can attach them to something sturdy, and stretch them back to equal lengths .. found this:


Also remember reading that putting knots in your lines reduces the breaking point by 50%

Cheers I'll give that a go. I just put the knot in to mark the difference, I've since taken it out.

You won't get the amount of stretch you need judging by your photo in the opening post. Will need to move some connection points in the leader lines, Christian shows this towards the end of his video (about 13 minutes in I think)

Before you start changing it, make sure you're measuring it correctly and do you really need to change it.

That's a big difference in line length BUT it is a back line and a front line.

It might be just how much trim you've pulled in.

Double check you're measuring especially because you say the kite flies fine.

Most bars, including Ozone, have adjustment knots inside the bar floats to change the length of the back lines. You can see the latest Ozone information here.

You can stretch your lines but they'll go back to the original length within a couple of hours, certainly as soon as you get them wet. The correct solution is to adjust the line length.

In the worst case you can make or buy some new pigtails. You can simply get a straight bit of line and tie knots and lark's head onto the end of the existing lines. Or you can splice up nice new colour coded ones. I can help with that.

Yeah I just realised I made a mistake. I had the bar sheeted out instead of in..... They're still off but not so much. I'll have a go of trimming them again tonight.

Yes... when calibrating a lineset to equal length you need to have depower fully released and bar fully or almost fully sheeted in. In that position the kite is offering full power. An easy way to equalize line lengths is to moved the knot behind the stopper ball on the depower line. Alot of variation in the position of that knot is unoticibly tolerable, especially if like me you virtually never use the depower.

As above, also..

Front line being even is far more important than front to back, or even back left to right. unfortunately, on a 2016 ozone bar, the only way to tune those front lines will be a pigtail set and tieing knots in the sleeved section of lines. Thats very normal.
